• Nearly every graduate (score 1.0 to 1.5) from a German High School got a good rating in whole Europe for nearly every subject in a university

• If you have such a grade, you would get an interview with the director of the university and the most German students got favorited for this

• Higher universities like Oxford need the highest graduation (1.0), just for the interview, but German students got a better basis if they are from Bavaria or NRW

• 68% of the students with a graduation from a German Grammar School get an interview with a foreign university (of whom 32% a place)

History

• Founded in 1903

• Renamed in 1983 as Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium

• The school moved to different locations, but since 1991 it has been in Velbert Birth

• Since 2004: general reconstruction of the building and complete renovation of the front

Naming

• On the 22nd February 1983, which was the 40th anniversary of the death of Hans and Sophie Scholl, the school got its current name in honour of the two of them

• Members of the White Rose, a student group in Munich that was active in the non-violent resistance movement in Nazi Germany, especially in distributing flyers against the war and the dictatorship of Adolf Hitler
