Speaker: DR. LOUIS T. BENEZET

Louis T. Benezet was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and has had a distinguished career in teaching and administration.

Dr. Benezet received his BA degree at Dartmouth College, his MA at Reed College

and his Doctor of Philosophy degree at Columbia College. His education background in­

cludes teaching at The Hill School in Pennsylvania, Reed College and Knox College.

During World War II he .served as Educational Servioes Officer for the U.S. Navy.

After this service he became the assistant dean of University College, Syracuse University

before accepting the responsibility of the office of the president at Allegheny College, Meadville, Pennsylvania.

Following seven years at Allegheny College he moved to the presidency at Colorado

College, Colorado Springs where he served for ·eight years before accepting the presidency of The Claremont University Center in Claremont.

Dr. Benezet has been published in numerous articles and books on the subject of high­

er education and is a member of a number of distinguished organizations and committees.

THE ACADE:MIC DRESS

The silk lining of the hood bears the colors of the institution from which the wearer has graduated. The official colors of the University of Califomia are

blue and gold.

The color of the velvet band around the hood shows the department in which the wearer has taken his degree.
