For all the controversy about the origin of Easter celebrations and the reasons we use the name, one thing remains true: the holy day has long been the high point of celebrations in the Christian Church. It is our special joy to celebrate because is not just a day from the distant past, nor just a day on the Churchs annual calendar, nor just our day to celebrate, but rather that it is the Lords day, a day of judgment against all who oppose Christ but of forgiveness to all who believe in him. This has made every day a special blessing and joy for all people and a way to be part of our risen Lord Jesusongoing work to save his world! ~Pastor Ken Boudreau Comments, Prayer Requests, Contact Me Comments for Today Pray for Me Publicly (in bulletin & worship service) Online Prayer Chain Request Please have Pastor call me. ANNOUNCING GOD'S PRESENCE

OPENING SENTENCES P This is the day that the Lord has made;

C let us rejoice and be glad in it.

P Christ has risen from the dead. Alleluia!

C God the Father has crowned Him with glory and honor,

P He has given Him dominion over the works of His hands;

C He has put all things under His feet. Alleluia! Alleluia!

WE CALL ON THE LORD 1 John 1:8–9 P If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is

not in us.

C But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

WE CONFESS OUR SIN TO GOD P Let us then confess our sins to God our Father.

C Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left

undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways to the glory of Your holy name. Amen.

DECLARATION OF GRACE

SONG OF PRAISE Blessed Be Your Name - Redman Blessed be Your name in the land that is plentiful; Where the streams of abundance flow, blessed be Your name;

Blessed be Your name when I’m found in the desert place,

When I walk thro’ the wilderness, blessed be Your name;

Every blessing You pour out I’ll turn back to praise; When the darkness closes in, Lord, still I will say.

Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be Your name;

Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be Your glorious name.

Blessed be Your name when the sun’s shining down on me; When the world’s all as it should be, blessed be Your name;

Blessed be Your name on the road marked with suffering;

Tho’ there’s pain in the offering, blessed be Your name;

Every blessing You pour out I’ll turn back to praise;

When the darkness closes in, Lord, still I will say.

Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be Your name;

Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be Your glorious name.

You give and take away, You give and take away;

My heart will choose to say, “Lord, blessed be Your name.” (2X)

Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be Your name; Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be Your glorious name.

THE PRAYER OF THE DAY

+ WE LISTEN TO GOD'S WORD +

NEW TESTAMENT READING ACTS 10:34–43 The disciples are witnesses to the risen Lord.

Page 5: Comments, Prayer Requests, Contact Me · 16898 Michael Avenue, Hastings, MN 55033 (651) 480-CARE ... 56-70 71+ Ages 3 and under Ages 4-5 1 -2nd ... Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia!

34Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, 35but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. 36As for the word that he sent to Israel, preaching good news of peace through Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all), 37you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed: 38how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. 39And we are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree, 40but God raised him on the third day and made him to appear, 41not to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. 43To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

A This is the Word of the Lord.

C Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL READING MATTHEW 28:1–10 Jesus Christ is risen from the dead.

P The Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew, the twenty-eighth chapter.

C Glory to You, O Lord.

1Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. 5But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. 7Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” 8So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. 10Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”

P This is the Gospel of the Lord.

C Praise to You, O Christ.

C He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

HYMN OF THE DAY 461 I Know That My Redeemer Lives 1 I know that my Redeemer lives;

What comfort this sweet sentence gives! He lives, He lives, who once was dead; He lives, my ever-living head.

2 He lives triumphant from the grave; He lives eternally to save; He lives all-glorious in the sky; He lives exalted there on high.

3 He lives to bless me with His love; He lives to plead for me above; He lives my hungry soul to feed; He lives to help in time of need.

6 He lives, my kind, wise, heav’nly friend; He lives and loves me to the end; He lives, and while He lives, I’ll sing; He lives, my Prophet, Priest, and King.

7 He lives and grants me daily breath; He lives, and I shall conquer death; He lives my mansion to prepare; He lives to bring me safely there.

8 He lives, all glory to His name! He lives, my Jesus, still the same; Oh, the sweet joy this sentence gives: I know that my Redeemer lives!

CHILDREN'S MESSAGE – KRISTI BAUER We believe children are the church and that God’s Word can and should be spoken in a way that they understand. Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me. Don’t stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14).

+ WE RESPOND TO GOD'S WORD +

CONFESSING OUR FAITH APOSTLES’ CREED C I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and

earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the

resurrection of the body, and the life T everlasting. Amen.

RECEIVING THE OFFERING The giving of our gifts is a prayerful response to the Gospel. Even as we, in difficult times take care of ourselves, we also look to care for others. MISSIONARIES

Fernando & Alison Sabio serving in the La Cieba area of Northern Honduras. Hi friends! After hearing about my brother and sister-in-law's quarantine in China, then my parents' experience in Washington, it is now our turn: eight confirmed cases in Honduras and the country in a lock-down. Our family is doing well at home, Fernando is in touch with pastors and leaders, and we are expectant of how the Lord will

work during this time. We would like to find creative ways to continue the children's Sunday school program via WhatsApp so parents can show videos and do projects with their kids at home. We love you all. Blessings to each of you during this time. **To donate go to: www.cten.org/fernandosabio FB3/17/20
