Declan Tyldesley – HD Radio Show Commercial Radio Show Review By Declan Tyldesley In my opinion our commercial radio show went quite well, and I also think we just scratched a profession standard radio show; so from this we would have attracted most of our intended target audience which was for teenagers and young adults for we each played vey up beat music which this category in demographic profiling would mainly listen to. The teenage and young adult demographic category is ranged from E to D. Therefore some of the kids in the college may have a richer family so they might be placed in a higher category if they have a job, or earn a substantial amount of money off of their parents. This demographic profiling category is very mixed according to what type of music they listen to so in order to make the show a success we needed to play different types of music genre’s to attract a more broader target audience for E6 Radio. But we did not a play a lot of mixed music genre’s so on the other and we may have disinterested some of our intended target audience. Another thing I think we didn’t too often was back sell most of the songs so if some people didn’t’ know what that song was called they still don’t know so we may have loosed some listeners if we was broadcasting live. However at the start of our radio show we did give the names of a few songs and what the artist was called. We did this in our longest jingle which is called E6 Radio Jingle 1. Furthermore I think we reached a professional standard radio show because we didn’t have any dead air so no matter what there was always something in the back ground such as a music track as we had a little conversation. However in our minute speech element we had a little bit of a struggle trying to keep the back music playing for it only lasted 59 seconds, but this short mess up didn’t stop us from speaking about a specific subject such as an animated film. In my opinion while doing the ten minute speech we did quite well despite the problem with the backing music. I also feel like our ten minute speech kept the intended audience entertained because we didn’t go fully off the script and from this we successfully complete our ten minute speech element. However in this ten minute speech element we didn’t exactly promote anything for different companies such as dairy milk. Therefore we did talk about two different animated films which were; How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Frozen. From these two films we had an intellectual debate over which film was better; this took up some of the speech element so it

In my opinion our commercial radio show went quite well, and I also think we just scratched a profession standard radio show; so from this we would have attracted most of our intended target audience which was for teenagers and young adults for we each played vey up beat music which this category in demographic profiling would mainly listen to.

From these two films we had an intellectual debate over which film was better; this took up some of the speech element so it was very useful. Also in-between each song and speech element we played a jingle, I total we had an amount of five jingles but we only played four of them more often, for the first jingle was just an opening to the show which lasted thirty nine seconds. And all of the other jingles were just under ten seconds. In my opinion this was good because we didn’t’ want every jingle to last more than ten seconds ‘cause it may bore some of the audience. Also these jingles are kind of telling the listeners what the show is called and what type of music we play. By playing these jingles we are promoting E6 Radio because we mention the radio’s name so if they like it they are able to come back to E6 Radio to tune in more often.

In this paragraph I will talk about how we managed not to get any dead air. I think the main reason why we didn’t have any dead air is because we managed to co-ordinate or control the technical elements very well. From this I mean we were able to fade in and out all of the songs so they didn’t just stop to disinterest the audience, so if this radio show was broadcasting live in other words we may have gained some more viewers. In comparison to another commercial radio show, I think we met all of the correct standards so we can attract a wide and broad target audience. We also had a number of 3 or 4 speeches on a number

of different topics such as the news and weather, and we also answered some of the questions on twitter @E6 Radio. Overall in my conclusion I think that we did a good job and got our radio show up to a professional standard, I think so because when handling the techniqual side of things we did really well and didn’t have any dead air.
