Timeline
Starting 2011-2012, ISS is rolling out the common core as a transition year.
We have a little time getting used to the new system, before we actually need to.
Which is good, because the common core is good teaching…
Timelines for Roll-Out 2012-2013 for all (42 states have adopted,
some will say 48 states) ISS has planned for a transition year
(2011-2012) K-2 will implement ELA and Math next
year 3-12 will implement ELA only next year
because the testing plan will change at that time
Timeline for RolloutToday: Introduction

Timeline for Assessment
The Common Core State Standards: Are good for kids!!!! Are aligned with college and workforce expectations; Are clear, understandable and consistent; Include rigorous content and application of knowledge through
high-order skills; Build upon strengths and lessons of current state standards; Are informed by standards in other top performing countries,
so that all students are prepared to succeed in our global economy and society; and
Are evidence-based. Enhances teacher creativity and helps close gaps Provides richer vertical planning
So many resources….
Massive amount of content and resources available nationwide.
We want to stay consistent within ISS, therefore only using resources posted to ISS website as a common reference.
Some pieces may not be accurate, there are many draft forms, and items are still being revised.
