Public relations interests me because it combines elements of several areas of study. There are many routes you can take, with some involving lots of writing and others requiring more hands-on efforts. I discovered how much I love event publicity through my experiences in Austin, and my public relations coursework has shown me that my prospective field is so much more than just press releases.

I chose my major of CSD with a focus on Speech Pathology because I believe everyone should have the ability to communicate. When I learned their was a major that specifically focused on giving others a voice, I thought, this is for me! Although challenging at times, I have loved all of my major’s classes and have really enjoyed learning about what my major entails of. CSD is an amazingly rewarding major.

I chose journalism because I wanted a field that I had been involved in since my early childhood. Writing, taking photos, and creating things have always been my interests and the journalism major lets me do all of that. This major at Moody really let’s you explore and I have loved all of my classes. I honestly feel I am growing not only as a Journalism major, but also as a student in general.

WHAT’S YOUR MAJOR?

9

I chose advertising as my major because everything from marketing tactics and research to the creation of the actual advertisement itself fascinates me. I learn something new and valuable in every class broadening my scope on the advertising world. Along the way I decided to pursue a business foundations and Latino media studies certificate in order to be specialized in my field of interest..

I choose to be an RTF major entirely due to its broad nature. Being an RTF major can open your eyes up to many experiences in the entertainment industry! One important thing to re-member: not every RTF major has to be on sets or in production. There’s so many avenues to explore and cool stuff to get involved in, it’s defi-nitely a wonderful major for any and all creative types! RTF has so much to offer.

Kevin Vela, Radio Television Film

Jennifer Barrow, Advertising

Madeline Krebs, Corporate CommI choose corporate communications because I wanted the flexibility and diversity of classes you get with the communications studies program, but also have the focus on learning how communication works in organizations and businesses. I’ve learned a lot about how people interact interpersonally and organizational dynamics. It’s interesting to not only learn about human behavior but be able to apply the theoretical background to real life application and actions most people do subconsciously everyday.

I originally thought I was going to be a lawyer, so I was attracted to Political Communication Studies. As of now, I really want to do political consulting or some type of marketing! I wouldn’t change my experience at this college for anything, and I am reminded everyday of how lucky to be a Moody College of Communication student. Moody offers so many awesome outlets of Political Comm majors. The capitol is in our backyard!
