Letters or symbols that are written or imprinted on a surface to represent the sounds or words of a language.

Invented about 3,500 BC, that is, 5,500 years ago.

Paper

Paper was made to enable people to communicate their ideas in a written expression.

The credit for inventing the original paper goes to Chinese man Tsai Lun

The Postal System

Chinese developed a postal system to deliver written messages.

Created about 900 BC.

The Later Postal System

The Envelope:The first envelopes were made of cloth, animal skins, or vegetable parts. The Babylonians wrapped their message in thin sheets of clay that were then baked

The Mail:In 1653, Frenchman, De Valayer established a postal system in Paris. He set up mail boxes and delivered any letters placed in them if they used envelopes that only he sold.
