AUBURN, AL Bruce Pearl’s Fore the Children Golf Classic was a huge suc-cess, raising over $150,000 for Chil-dren’s Harbor through a weekend full of events.

“Our monetary goal was lofty,” Pearl said. “We thought we would be able to write a check for $100,000 to Chil-dren’s Harbor. I’m pretty pleased to say that we will be writing a check closer to the area of $150,000 after everything gets paid for.”

“I really appreciate everything coach has done for us and all the support he has lent to us,” Myrle Grate, COO of Children’s Harbor said. “Children’s Harbor raises every dime we have ev-ery year. We don’t get any government subsidies or funding, we raise every-thing through private individuals so this fundraiser means that 5,000 kids can come to camp next summer and 35,000 people can come through our family center next year and receive support services.”

The event began with a dinner auc-tion at the Pearl’s house and conclud-ed with a golf tournament at Willow Point Golf and Country Club. “His-torically, educational things, kids and cancer have been the areas that my wife (Brandy) and I focused on,” Pearl said. “At Children’s Harbor, over 5,000 young people every summer get an op-portunity to enjoy the beauty of camp-ing at Lake Martin. They don’t have to

Welcome to ‘Community & Cause’, an initiative brought to you by the Prewett Insurance Group, your local Allstate Insurance Agency.

As graduates of Auburn University in 2001, we have a special connec-tion to this great area as many oth-ers do in our community. After liv-ing in Birmingham, AL for 10 years, we decided to move to Auburn so we could be closer to family and raise our children in this wonderful area. After moving back and get-ting involved in the community, we quickly saw the need to help get the word out to our friends and neigh-bors about all the incredible activi-ties that are available in the Auburn-Opelika area. The Community & Cause newsletter is meant to bring you a consolidation of all the online websites that highlight what’s hap-pening on the Plains!

Community & CauseThe Prewett Insurance Group of Allstate is happy to announce the re-launch of their non-profit partnership program. Formerly known as We Love Our Cause, Community & Cause was created to raise awareness for the many great local non-profit organi-zations that we have in the Auburn- Opelika area.

Community & Cause works to raise awareness for non-profit organizations through events, direct marketing and our presence in the Auburn-Opelika community.

The partnership includes marketing through the company’s website, com-munity newsletter, t-shirt drive, blog, and social media. Each partner also re-ceives monetary support. A $20 dona-tion will be made each time someone calls for an insurance quote and men-tions their non-profit of choice.

“There are so many great non-profit or-ganizations in our community, and we want to create strategic partnerships that promote impactful community en-gagement” said Rusty Prewett.

Prewett works with many non-profit organizations year round, but will only accept 5 organizations for the Com-munity & Cause partnership each year. Community & Cause will officially be-gin accepting applications on Decem-ber 1st and will announce the 2015 partnerships by the end of January.

Non-profit organizations can apply by either dropping by the Auburn office or downloading the application from the web-site. All applications must be returned by January 15th.
