DESCRIPTION

Continuing Education is a multi-faceted division of Community College of Beaver County. This unique branch recognizes the community’s need for lifelong learning, training, and personal/professional enrichment. Continuing Education offers a wide range of non-credit courses, programs, seminars, and workshops for the general public. Each year thousands of people participate in the Division’s non-credit offerings.Non-credit courses are held in three different sessions throughout the year on campus and at various other locations throughout the region. Informal in nature, the Division has no entrance requirements with the exception of some career-related courses and certificate programs. Each person who attends 75% of his/her scheduled class hours receives a class completion certificate. (Exceptions include Professional Certificate programs.)

Senior CitizensTuition for PA resident students, age 65 years or older, will be waived for a majority of non-credit courses on a space available basis. Other costs (textbooks,lab fees, supplies, etc.) must be assumed by the individual.

CompTIA’s A+ Certification OCCP06501 $1,995 + $120 LabStudents will learn the components of a personal computer and peripheral devices, how to install an operating system, and be introduced to networks and security. Students will cover installations, building, upgrading, repairing, configuring, troubleshooting, optimizing, diagnosing and preventive maintenance. GIS Mapping Certificate Program OCCP47301 $1,100 + $125 Lab The GIS (Geographic Information System) Mapping Certificate Program develops the skills necessary to understand and utilize ESRI’s ArcGIS 10.3 software and introduces GIS concepts including data structures and sources of data, GIS tools, supplications, and resources. Attention First Time Students. INTRODUCTION TO GAMING IS A PREREQUISITE TO ALL GAMING COURSES. Therefore, you can only register for table games classes if you have completed or are scheduled for Introduction to Gaming. Class times and dates are subject to change. PREREQUISITE FOR BEING A DEALER: Dealers must possess the ability to deal multiple games and variations of those games. Manual dexterity, color perception and the ability to stand 100% of the time is expected. Basic math skills, quick recall and the ability to calculate without aid are required.

As a dealer, you will be exposed to second hand smoke and higher than normal noise levels. Exceptional guest services skills and the ability to handle difficult people are essential. A dealer must possess excellent verbal communication skills and be able to adjust interaction with people when necessary. Since a dealer is part of a Casino’s entertainment, an outgoing personality is an important attribute.

Professional appearance and attitude are equally important. Personal grooming and appropriate dress must meet Casino standards. The minimum age requirement to perform the work of a dealer is 18. Successful candidates will be able to work a flexible schedule including all shifts (evenings, weekends and holidays) as well as pass an audition/interview and all pre-employment testing. If hired, the employee must secure and maintain a Pennsylvania Gaming License. All dealers are required to successfully complete CPR instruction

Introduction to Gaming $175 + $5 LabIn this class, you’ll cover the basics of the casino atmosphere along with chip handling techniques, chip color value, value of a bet and pit procedures, and the roles of each position in the casino chain of command. Additional topics include customer service, conflict resolution, time and self-management, dealing with difficult people, and CPR.
