The great part is no previous experience is necessary to join your local US Army Rugby Korea team. Presently there are enough experienced team members who are experienced to train non-experienced players. “Biggest focus for new players is to omit all knowledge of football prior to playing rugby and to be relatively in good shape due to the demands of the game”, explains Captain Palacios. The cost to join is free but members need to go to USARugby.org and register for a CIP number which costs thirty five dollars and also need to pay ninety eight thousand WON for a kit, team jersey, shorts and socks. If you’re interested in joining your local rugby team join by; sending a message to US Army Rugby Korea’s Facebook, email [email protected], or contact Captain Palacios at 010-2731-8441 or email him on his Global email account. Another way to join is show up at practice. USAG Yongsan’s Rugby practice is held on every Tuesday from 2000-2130 at Field #12 next Collier Community Fitness Center Parking Lot and every Saturday from 1000-1200 at Seoul American High School Field. Community members are welcome to participate by attending games and cheering from the sidelines. The next rugby opportunity will be held either the twelfth of nineteenth of November featuring an EXPACT team and Military rugby team at the Seoul American High School Field. Dates can be verified at the above contact information tools. Thank you to Captain Palacios for making a positive impact to our community and I hope to see all US Military Instillations have a rugby team in the near future. Whether your goal is to improve your APFT score or just get stronger, faster and more fit Crossfit might be just what you need to get started down that road. Check our website or find us on Facebook at Fight Tonight Crossfit.

Unless you've been living in an isolated compound in Pakistan, you've probably heard , read, or seen Crossfit in action.

You may have even suffered through a Crossfit Workout of the Day (WOD). Established as a paradigm busting fitness regimen back in 2000 by Greg Glassman, Crossfit has taken root in gyms, backyards, public parks and garages across the world. At last count, there are approximately 4,400 Crossfit affiliates (think "franchise") spanning the globe with more being established every day. There are two different kinds of Crossfit affiliates; commercial and military. The commercial affiliate charges a fee and are primarily for-profit gyms. They must pay an annual affiliation fee to Crossfit Headquarters. The military affiliates are non-profit and do not charge fees nor are they required to pay any affiliation fees to Crossfit, thanks to Greg Glassman and his outstanding support of the military. In order to start a military affiliate, you must have a qualified Crossfit Level 1 Trainer on site and maintain an affiliate website.

Here in Korea, there are several active military Crossfit affiliates serving DoD personnel, their families and communities. In USAG Yongsan's Collier Community Fitness Center, we established Fight Tonight Crossfit in December 2011 and currently provide 10 class sessions a week. Each class is a hour long and will generally include a warm up, strength and/or skill work and a WOD. Much of what Crossfit asks you to do will seem foreign at first; gymnastic rings, power and olympic lifts, bodyweight movements, jump rope, medicine balls, kettelbells.

because so much of what we ask that the uninitiated attend a three hour Fundamentals class before attending any of our regular classes. The Fundamentals class familiarizes the budding athlete with proper form and execution of the squat, deadlift, and overhead shoulder movements among many others basic Crossfit movements. More information about Crossfit, class times and schedules can be found at www.FightTonightCrossfit.com.
