Cruisers Café Bar and Grill now openCruisers Café Bar and Grill (formerly Mahjongg Café) has recently

reopened after an extensive renovation with a new name to match

the exciting venue. But owners Michael, Diana and Val are quick to

assure that they still have the same great food, value and friendly

service that made the original café so popular.

Cruisers is a fantastic casual dining spot with an abundance of

fresco dining options. Cruisers is relaxed and friendly, the modern

Australian menu is diverse and perfectly accompanied by a great

value wine list.

Michael has 20 years of experience in fine dining and is passionate

about bringing good food to the table without the fine dining price

tag. His signature dishes are Crackling Pork Belly with apple toffee,

and Chicken and Macadamia Roulade with Bearnaise sauce (both

$23). Another example of the great value is the $35 banquet –

bread and dips, choice of 5 mains with a glass of wine, followed by

a choice of 3 desserts with coffee.

Diana on the other hand has a passion for sweets and likes to add a special touch to the average dessert. Some items on the menu include a Lindt dark chocolate and caramel tart made from 70% real Lindt chocolate, an old-fashioned apple pie with fresh apples and hand-made pastry, and gluten-free goodies like triple chocolate fudge brownie (also with Lindt 70% chocolate) and caramel and macadamia cheesecake.

Cruisers Café Bar and Grill is great for a casual meal, cake and coffee after the movies, business breakfasts, after work drinks or functions up to 100 people.

Cirque du Soleil is returning to Australia with a spectacular new production the whole family can enjoy. From 14 July 2012, Brisbane will host the Australian premiere season of OVO at Northshore, before touring the nation.

Since its world premiere in Montreal, Canada in April 2009, OVO has visited more than 15 cities in Canada, United States and Mexico, delighting more than two million spectators. The Brisbane show will be the first time OVO has toured outside North America and all the excitement will be happening by the river at Northshore.

OVO, meaning “egg” in Portuguese, is a headlong rush into a colourful eco-system teeming with life, where insects work, eat, crawl, flutter, play, fight and look for love in a non-stop riot of energy and movement. The insects’ home is a world of biodiversity and beauty filled with noisy action and moments of quiet emotion.

When a mysterious egg appears in their midst, the insects are awestruck and intensely curious about this iconic object that represents the enigma and cycles of their lives. Its love at first sight when a gawky, quirky insect arrives in this bustling community and a fabulous ladybug catches his eye – and the feeling is mutual.

The cast of OVO is comprised of 54 performing artists from 16 countries specialising in many acrobatic acts. One highlight of OVO is the stunning flying trapeze act, in which six flyers soar 40 feet in the air, making this the biggest act of its kind to ever be presented under a big top by Cirque du Soleil. It combines many circus disciplines, including banquine, Russian swing and swinging chair. The finale features 20 artists running, jumping and leaping up a 24-foot vertical wall.

Northshore is the perfect back drop for this eco-friendly production with the famous big top being situated right next to the Northshore Riverside Park and its green surrounds.
