Community Relations

SaskGaming has a goal to demonstrate good corporate citizenship and will employ the best practices in the gaming industry for corporate social responsibility and community support. In addition, SaskGaming believes in building public awareness of our sponsorship and community relations activities. Our emphasis is on strategic partnership opportunities that will help build and form the corporation’s reputation. SaskGaming has developed a Community Relations Program which responds to all requests, including: cash and in-kind sponsorships, promotional items, invitations to purchase event tickets or Corporate tables and golf tournaments from Saskatchewan non-profit and charitable organizations. The program provides broad support to all communities with a strong focus on supporting communities in which we operate, along with a focus on activities linked to our Key Areas of Support: 1. Strengthening Our Community

- Supporting Regina or Moose Jaw -based community efforts to raise funds for registered charities or not-for-profit activities that provide food or shelter for disadvantaged people or improve public health and safety.

2. Promoting Community Pride

- Sponsorship of festivals, events and tournaments involved in promoting pride, community participation and tourism.

- Celebration of achievements in sports, culture, the arts, entertainment and diversity. 3. Supporting Saskatchewan’s Growth through Partnership

- Partnership with key stakeholders to sponsor projects, events or conferences that foster Saskatchewan’s business development, tourism and economic growth.

- Partnerships to jointly support projects that benefit charities, not for profit organizations, safety, healthy lifestyles, education and labour development.

4. Aboriginal People

- Sponsorship of events and/or projects that will engage, support and ultimately benefit Aboriginal people and/or organizations of Aboriginal people within Saskatchewan.

Regina vs. Moose Jaw Partnerships - Casinos Regina & Moose Jaw will give preference to supporting communities in which we operate. Keeping consistent with previous years, an 80/20 split will be applied. The allocation is outlined below: - Casino Regina (80%) - Casino Moose Jaw (20%)

Community Relations Types of Community Relations Investments SaskGaming focuses Community Relations support within the following seven (7) categories: 1. Cash Sponsorships - This program provided support to many organizations, community groups and

organizing committees in the form of cash sponsorships.

2. In-Kind Show Lounge Sponsorships – The program offered a discount towards the use of the Casino Regina Show Lounge to organizations that qualified under the Community Relations Guidelines.

3. Charity Poker – The program offered in-kind use of the Coach Room and dealer services to a limited number of charity poker evenings for organizations who were raising funds for registered charities.

4. Employee Match – This program provided a matching grant for employees who raised funds for a registered charity or not-for-profit organization. The corporation matched contributions up to a total of $500 per person/group.

5. Dollars for Do-Gooders – This program provided a $250 donation to an employee’s charity of choice, given they met all the requirements including volunteering at least 8 hours of their own time at a registered charitable organization.

6. Promotional Items – This program provided promotional items to eligible organizations to assist in their fundraising efforts.

7. Scholarships – This program awarded 10 scholarships to eligible students through a partnership with the U of R, SIAST and SIIT. The program also awarded 4 scholarships to eligible employees and dependents of employees through Community Relations.

SaskGaming does not support the following types of events or activities: • Political groups or events • Religious groups, events and/or projects • Individual pursuits • Amateur sports teams • Out of province events or travel expenses • Annual general meetings • Publications, theatrical or video productions • Graduations or family reunions

Moose Jaw Cultural Centre The Moose Jaw Cultural Centre provides the community of Moose Jaw with a first-class arts facility with a twist of the Golden Age of Cinema. The Centre is made up of three different theatre components: the Conexus Arts Centre, the Mae Wilson Theatre and the McCaig Family Wing. Each component plays a vital role in ensuring a positive entertainment experience for its valued guests. Casino Moose Jaw is proud to be a major contributor to this historical venue. In 2013, Casino Moose Jaw also brought seven (7) shows to the Cultural Centre. This sponsorship contributed to the focus area of Supporting Saskatchewan’s Growth through Partnership.

Bowties & Sweethearts Valentine’s Gala

The 3rd Annual Bowties & Sweethearts Valentine’s Gala took place February 9, 2013, in support of the Leader-Post Christmas Cheer Fund, which directed funds to the YWCA’s Regina’s Isabel Johnson Shelter, Regina Transition House, WISH Safe House and SOFIA House. Casino Regina was recognized as the “Entertainment Sponsor”. This sponsorship contributed to the focus area of Strengthening our Community.

February Wakamow Valley Shake off the Winter Blues Night

George Reed, Director of Guest & Community Relations, highlighted the Shake off the Winter Blues Night on February 22, 2013 by being the emcee for the event in support of the Wakamow Valley Development Fund. As “Presenting Sponsor”, Casino Moose Jaw played a vital role in raising funds for this charitable organization which will be put towards a new wheel chair accessible playground in Rotary Park. This sponsorship contributed to the focus area of Strengthening our Community.

March Casino Regina Mid-Winter Blues Festival presented by Regina Delta Blues Association

On March 1-2, 2013, Casino Regina hosted the final two nights of the Mid-Winter Blues Festival in the Show Lounge as the title sponsor. Both nights showcased extraordinary blues musicians and their music. Various performers, including local musicians, rocked the Casino Regina Show Lounge stage in front of extremely appreciative audiences. Through this annual sponsorship, Casino Regina receives the opportunity to host two nights of the festival. On March 1 the Powder Blues Band headlined the night and on March 2, Kim Wilson’s Blues All-stars closed the festival. The Regina Delta Blues Association was created with a mandate to promote blues and blues-related music and provide education in the blues genre to the general public and more specifically to their membership. This sponsorship contributed to the focus area of Promoting Community Pride.

April Aboriginal Government Employees Network – A.G.E.N

Casinos Regina & Moose Jaw renewed their sponsorship of the Aboriginal Government Employees Network (AGEN), and as a result, were again recognized as an Eagle Sponsor. The Aboriginal Government Employees’ Network (AGEN) is an organization dedicated to partnering, promoting and supporting workplace environments that are committed to the recruitment, retention and advancement of Aboriginal employees throughout the Government of Saskatchewan. During 2013, AGEN hosted a variety of learning opportunities, as well as personal and professional development workshops for its members. The biggest event was the Annual General Meeting and Conference which was held October 9-10, 2013 at Evraz Place Convention Centre in Regina. This sponsorship contributed to the focus area of Aboriginal People.

April First Nations University of Canada 35th Annual Pow Wow

The First Nations University of Canada’s 35th Annual Pow Wow was a celebration of spring and a sharing of First Nations culture that helps add to the diversity and cultural mosaic of Saskatchewan. In 2013, more than 6,300 visitors came to the pow wow over the course of the weekend. In addition, 706 registered dancers, including 104 tiny tots wowed everyone in attendance. This event included exciting competitions, colorful performances, and of course the Grand Entry which took place on numerous occasions throughout the weekend. Casino Regina was again proud to be recognized as an Eagle Sponsor of the event. This sponsorship contributed to the focus area of Aboriginal People.

JUNO Awards & JUNOfest For the first time ever, the JUNO Awards made their way to Regina, Saskatchewan. The JUNO Awards are Canada’s premier music awards show, encompassing a week-long celebration of Canadian music, culminating in the awards broadcast where Canadian artists were recognized for excellence of achievement in recorded music. The Awards Week ran from April 15-21, 2013 with the main ceremony taking place at the Brandt Centre, hosted by Michael Bublé. Casinos Regina & Moose Jaw capitalized on this prolific opportunity by becoming a Benefit Patron Sponsor. In addition to sponsoring the JUNO Awards, Casinos Regina & Moose Jaw also provided in-kind sponsorship to the 2013 JUNOfest. JUNOfest was a two-night music festival that is considered one of the signature events of the week. The live festival featured talents of regional and national artists representing the many genres that make up Canadian music. This sponsorship contributed to the focus area of Promoting Community Pride.

May SIAST Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Day & Student Achievement Plan For the second consecutive year, Casinos Regina & Moose Jaw were a major supporter of a two-pronged Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST) initiative. In 2013, Casinos Regina & Moose Jaw were recognized as an Exclusive Sponsor of the Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Day and a recognized Corporate Sponsor of the Aboriginal Student Achievement Plan. The Aboriginal Student Achievement Plan is a five year, $5.5 million comprehensive recruitment and retention plan focused on supporting Aboriginal students from the time they consider attending SIAST through until graduation.

The 22nd Annual Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Day, sponsored by Casinos Regina & Casino Moose Jaw, brought together SIAST students and faculty for a day of Aboriginal education, arts and culture. Throughout the day, participants took part in a number of presentations, including keynotes Sherry Farrell Racette, renowned educator and artist and member of Timiskaming First Nation, and Cadmus Delorme, role model and youth leader. World champion hoop dancer Terrence Littletent entertained audiences prior to the lunch hour BBQ and a mini pow-wow which featured Head Start Tiny Tots. This sponsorship contributed to the focus area of Aboriginal People.

Casino Regina Charity Royale A Black Tie Benefit

On Saturday, May 4, 2013, Casino Regina hosted its 3rd Annual Casino Regina Charity Royale – A Black Tie Benefit. This year celebrated a magical evening of mystery, intrigue and romance with the sultry sights, sounds and delicacies of Arabian Nights. The funds raised for this event benefited a cause that is near and dear to our hearts, The George Reed Foundation, which supports programs and projects that focus on education, continuous learning, and healthy and active lifestyles for the disabled and people living with physical and intellectual challenges. In total, $92,670 was raised in support of this worthy cause. This sponsorship contributed to the focus area of Strengthening our Community.

Mosaic – First Nations Pavilion

Casino Regina was proud to be a corporate sponsor of the First Nations Pavilion during Mosaic, the annual festival of cultures held in Regina. June Casino Regina Downtown Summer Stage

As Title Sponsor, Casino Regina sponsored live local talent from different bands and musical genres. Every Thursday afternoon from June through to the end of August. Residents and guests were treated to entertainment on the Casino Regina Downtown Summer Stage. This sponsorship contributed to focus area of Promoting Community Pride.

Mosaic Concert of Hope

The Mosaic Concert of Hope, presented by Casino Moose Jaw, took place on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the sold-out Mae Wilson Theatre. One-hundred percent of proceeds went to help fund the purchase of life saving medical equipment to aid people in the community and surrounding areas that are battling cancer. This 2013 event managed to raise over $279,000. This sponsorship contributed to the focus area of Strengthening our Community.

Moose Jawg Charity Road Race

The 12th Annual Moose Jawg Charity Road Race took place on July 1, 2013. It is a 5 km and 10 km race that is organized and hosted by local volunteers. It is held every Canada Day, in Moose Jaw’s beautiful Wakamow Valley. Proceeds for this event go to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation. The race has attracted runners from as far away as North Carolina, Minnesota, Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario. SaskGaming employees also regularly participate in the race. This sponsorship contributed to the focus area of Strengthening our Community.

September Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club Inc. & Labour Day Classic Game Day

If you look for the heart and soul of our province, it will lead you to one of the most historic and cultural sports franchises in Canada, the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Casinos Regina & Moose Jaw are proud to be a major supporter of the Roughriders and their Annual Labour Day Classic Game. As part of our sponsorship, Casinos Regina & Moose Jaw and the Roughriders wowed the fans in attendance with a spectacular, one-of-a-kind half time show when the Canadian Armed Forces Skyhawks team parachuted into the packed stadium with a designated member landing successfully on an oversized casino poker chip. September MacKenzie Art Gallery Professional Native Indian Artists Inc. Casino Regina was pleased to be a Supporting Sponsor of the Professional Native Indian Artists Inc. exhibit that was on display starting in September. Together, Casino Regina and The MacKenzie Art Gallery were able to present an unparalleled opportunity for the people of Saskatchewan to appreciate and engage with the work of one of Canada’s most important early artist alliances. The exhibit brought over one hundred works of art to Regina, including a number of recently uncovered masterworks that had not been publicly accessible for many years. Casino Moose Jaw was proud to once again be recognized as a Corporate Sponsor for the Moose Jaw Warriors Hockey Club for the 2013-1014 hockey season. September

Casino Regina continued to play a role in the Regina Pats’ hockey community. Casino Regina was recognized as the “Premiere Sponsor” of the Pats 50/50 program at each home game. In addition, Casino Regina also invested in the Aboriginal community through the hockey club, as the “Title Sponsor” of the Casino Regina First Nation & Metis Awareness Night, held on March 6th, 2013. The evening featured performances by a local singers as well as drum group Charging Bear. This event included a special focus on the upcoming 2014 North American Indigenous Games. October Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism Senior Volunteer Awards

The mission of the Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism is to bring together Saskatchewan seniors’ organizations for the purpose of contributing to a better quality of life for seniors through research, advocacy, creating awareness and partnering with other organizations. Casino Regina was proud to be a major sponsor of the Annual Celebrating Seniors Awards Banquet which took place on October 6, 2013 at the Delta Regina Hotel. This sponsorship contributed to the focus area of Supporting Saskatchewan’s Growth through Partnership.

November 101st Grey Cup Festival & Scotiabank Taste of the Nation Gala

During the week of November 20-24, 2013, Regina played host to the Canadian Football League’s crowning event, the 101st Grey Cup Festival. Not only did Casinos Regina & Moose Jaw sponsor the 101st Grey Cup and Celebration in Rider Nation Festival, but Casino Regina also played host to the Scotiabank Taste of the Nation Gala through the use of the Casino Regina Show Lounge. Casinos Regina & Moose Jaw were recognized as a Festival Partner for the Celebration in Rider Nation Festival. The Scotiabank Taste of the Nation Gala was split between the Casino Regina Show Lounge and the Delta Hotel on the night of November 23, 2013. The attendees enjoyed an evening of fine Canadian food, spectacular CFL spirit, comedy, music and Casino Regina hospitality. Both of these sponsorships contributed to the focus area of Promoting Community Pride.

December Kitchener Community School Holiday Dinner

Every December, Casino Regina provides a hot, holiday meal and gifts to the students and their families at Kitchener Community School. Employees get into the Christmas spirit by volunteering their time to help serve the food and hand out gifts. This year over 500 people, including students, their families and community residents took part in the free holiday meal prepared by the Food & Beverage staff at Casino Regina. This sponsorship contributed to the focus area of Aboriginal People.
