  • Community Relations Coordinator

    The Community Relations Coordinator represents Granger in the community, building constructive external relationships, having a positive impact on governmental initiatives and fostering positive public relations. All Granger associates must work with our associates, customers, vendors and the public in a way that demonstrates Grangers core values. Granger is a Christian, family business, guided by the Golden Rule, that creates and manages sustainable environmental solutions. JOB REQUIREMENTS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Plans, implements and manages community relations projects (including tradeshows, parades, sponsorships, festivals, public speaking, etc.) with community partners to meet the mission and goals of the company

    Attends local government meetings, conducts policy research as needed, and stays abreast of trending political issues relevant to Granger

    Serves as the dedicated media coordinator for all external information sharing, including all media outlets and other community information sharing, for both push of positive information and response to information surrounding any unexpected negative events

    Consults with supervisor to address external messaging and appropriate content to minimize risk and exposure to liability

    Helps build new relationships and maintains existing ones with communities served and similarly purposed civic and professional organizations

    Coordinates various company events and trade shows and assists with division events and meetings as needed

    Coordinates and delivers educational tours of the various Granger campus locations and services

    Manages the Granger PAC, including reports and filing

    Networks with other team members and communicates program progress and budgeting to supervisor

    Provides support for community, public and governmental relations activities for various Granger departments

    Recognizes and operates within defined budgeting requirements

    Continuously looks for opportunities to build external relationships and advance the Granger brand

    Assists with special projects as needed

  • EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

    Bachelors degree in political science, public relations, marketing or related field is required. Relevant education, training and experience will also be considered.

    Prior experience with event planning is strongly preferred.

    Prior civic involvement is strongly preferred.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    Strategic thinker with ability to absorb and understand highly technical materials, policy documents, laws, rules, etc.

    Solid listening, written and oral communication skills

    Self-starter with initiative and high level of personal discipline

    Detail-oriented; accurate and thorough, able to monitor own work to ensure quality

    Approachable, diplomatic, non-confrontational and professional demeanor

    Experienced and comfortable working oprojects in a team environment

    Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and priorities, changing course rapidly

    Comfortable speaking in public; outgoing, personable, friendly and upbeat

    Strong relationship/networking skills

    Strong software and technology skills

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

    Highly organize

    Ability to drive or provide own transportation to community events during day and evening hours

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The associate frequently is required to sit. The associate is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment can be loud and disruptive. In performing the functions of the job, the associate will occasionally be exposed to field conditions such as loud noises, moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, vibration, or fumes.

    STATUS AND HOURS This is a salaried position, working 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with additional time as duties dictate. Evening and weekend hours will be required for various events and meeting attendance.
