Community Engagement

• Q2 saw the regular Main Site, Community and Transport Forums. Hot topics included:• Transport Forum: Quantock roundabout developments and bus movements.• Main Site Forum: Buses, fly-parking and the Main Site Neighbourhood Support Scheme.• Community Forum: Construction update, tourism and transport.

• The monthly drop in for residents of the Bath Road in Sydenham have taken place throughout the quarter, levels of frustration decreased as the road works neared completion.

• The EDF Energy pipeline approach to education and skills at HPC has been recognised at this year’s Business in the Community (BITC) Responsible Business Awards as a nominated finalist.

• Representation of the Community Relations Team and the bus logistic team attended Stogursey Parish Council to address concerns regarding bussing and fly parking.

• Closer working patterns are being put in place by HPC Community Relations team and SDC Community Safety Officer, Ryan Kelly.

• The CIM Fund has now committed over £5 million to local projects, including: • The Great Western Hotel project run by YMCA Somerset Coast has received £500,000 to contribute to a full

renovation project of the historic building opposite the train station in Taunton. • The Somerset Wildlife Trust has received £159,035 to support their Somerset’s Brilliant Coast project

Visits • The Visitor Centre in Bridgwater reached over 80,000 visitors since they opened in 2012. • Continued increase in visits taking place over Q2 with over 1923 visitors to HPC

• Close to 1000 more than the last quarter.

Community Relations – Q2 2018Inspire Education• Headline Inspire figures for March 2018 to July 2018 in infographic, right. • 150,000 student interactions since the programme commenced in 2012• Careers presentations, conferences and workshops for year 12 students at The Blue School in Wells, Strode

College and South Somerset Schools have been supported by volunteers from across the project• Big Bang STEM festival took place at UWE, Bristol. Over 2000 students from schools across the South West

attended this regional event• The new headsets with the VR tour of HPC were used at relevant events

Young HPC• Young HPC now has 381 registered members – 182 additional registrations In the quarter• The second site tour has been delivered, giving young people the opportunity to see the site and ask any questions• Large skills day planned for 7th August at Cannington Court, with a predicted 100 young people due to attend:

• Range of exhibitors – interactive stand • Hands on workshops

Apprentices• 250 Apprentices have worked for the Hinkley Point C Project to date• Increasing volume of apprenticeship opportunities coming from BYLOR as their workforce ramps up.

Employment and skills• 12,654 people are registered with the HPC Jobs Service, 46% are local. This is following a cleanse of the data

during the GDPR implementation. • A HOST workforce recruitment event held at Sydenham Community Hub welcomed 250 attendees. HOST will

be operating Sedgemoor Campus once complete.

Supply chain• Supplier registrations currently stand at 2,399 local suppliers and 1,700 regional suppliers. • The HPC project has now committed £1.3 billion to regional suppliers, with £650 million spent to date.

Associated Development UpdatesSedgemoor Campus, accommodation in Bridgwater• Bath Road works are now complete

• New road layout operational• All module units have been delivered to site and being placed into position• Phase 1 opening planned for late 2018, including sports facilities.

Hinkley Campus, accommodation at Hinkley Point• Fully open and operational • Sports facilities now available for the community to book through www.host-somerset.co.uk

Junction 23, Park and Ride• Open and fully operation to both cars and freight.

Junction 23 signalisation • Fully operational and being monitored for optimisation.

Cannington Park and Ride• Open and fully operation to both cars and freight.

Washford Cross Park and Ride (formally named Williton Park and Ride)• Nearing completion without a single complaint or enquiry to date.

Bristol Road/ Wylds Road junction • Application being made to defer works until after the peak of HPC construction.

Complaint Enquiry Positive Feedback

Although fly parking is still the largest complaints category, we

saw a significant decrease in complaints from around 60 to 33

in June.

This decrease in complaints could be because of a revised

and more comprehensive Fly Parking Policy • Re-introducing the ticketing of vehicles, this is a physical sign of

our efforts to the community

• Re-enforcing the three step disciplinary process, there have been

2 examples of workers losing their site passes.

• Introduction of discrete surveillance of potential fly parking sites.
