COURSE DESCRIPTION: Ethics is both a science and a way of life. As such, it is studied under two headings: General Ethics which deals on the theories and principles of morality and Special Ethics which focuses on moral practices and contemporary moral issues.

INSTITUTIONAL OUTCOMES:

1. Produce graduates who have the knowledge, attitudes, values, and skills necessary for them to cope with the life on board ship,

2. Produce competent and qualified Merchant Marine Officers, capable of meeting the needs of an ever-expanding domestic and worldwide maritime trade.

COURSE INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES:

At the end of the course, the students will be able to:

1. Distinguish between what is good, which must be done and what is evil, which must be avoided2. Demonstrate the acquired knowledge and understanding of the principles governing human acts

3. Apply the knowledge they have gained in their actions and in making decisions as a seafarer

4. Appreciate their human rights

5. Perform their duties to their family and become responsible citizens of their country
