Aſter the first 6 months of providing this type of scheduling, the program has proved to be successful. Clients are receiving first appointments within two weeks or less from the time all appropriate paperwork necessary has been submitted (4-6 weeks from initial con- tact with therapist regarding medication). Clients who are already established with the medical department are able to call in to schedule an appointment and be placed on the schedule within 5 days or less. Caregiver emotions or behavior that interferes with the caregiver's understanding and ability to assist in the implementation of the treatment plan. 3. Mandated reporting such as in situations involving abuse or neglect. 4. Use of play equipment or other physical devices, or an interpreter or translator, re- quired because of the patient's lack of fluency or undeveloped verbal skills. Medicare patients cannot be billed for complexity if the only reason for the complexity is due to a language interpreter. It does not matter if they also have other insurance. erapy staff will be trained on using the new features as soon as they become available in the EMR.

Open Access Scheduling a Success forMedical Department!

In May of this year, the Medical department began using a scheduling technique called Just In Time to provide clients with an open access concept for scheduling appointments. After the first 6 months of providing this type of scheduling, the program has proved to be successful. Clients are receiving first appointments within two weeks or less from the time all appropriate paperwork necessary has been submitted (4-6 weeks from initial con-tact with therapist regarding medication). Clients who are already established with the medical department are able to call in to schedule an appointment and be placed on the schedule within 5 days or less. Overall the program has been very successful!

Coming Soon!Therapy staff will soon be able to use signature pads to capture signatures of clients and collateral staff when completing treatment plans and treatment plan reviews. Once we start using the signature pads, therapy staff will not have to print out the treatment plan report, have the client sign in the signature boxes and then place the document in the scanning box. The plan is to have this piece functional by the end of November.

Also new to the system is the ability to use a complexity add on code in conjunction with individual therapy, group therapy, and admission intakes. Reasons for why the complexity option can be used in conjunction with one of the previously mentioned services include:

1. The need to manage maladaptive communication - for example, high anxiety, high reactivity, repeated questions, or disagreement among participants that complicates care.2. Caregiver emotions or behavior that interferes with the caregiver's understanding and ability to assist in the implementation of the treatment plan.3. Mandated reporting such as in situations involving abuse or neglect.4. Use of play equipment or other physical devices, or an interpreter or translator, re-quired because of the patient's lack of fluency or undeveloped verbal skills.

Medicare patients cannot be billed for complexity if the only reason for the complexity is due to a language interpreter. It does not matter if they also have other insurance.

Therapy staff will be trained on using the new features as soon as they become available in the EMR.
