You will be working for our subsidiary company Darrington Quarries Ltd, which is a long established quarrying company operating in Yorkshire. Darrington Quarries has six limestone quarries and one sand quarry they are all situated close to the A1 from Doncaster in the south to Tadcaster in the north.

Role Purpose

To manage the operations of the Quarries business.

Key Responsibilities

To work closely with the Quarry Managers to ensure the quarries operations run efficiently and safely.

Liaise with General Manager and the Health and Safety Representative on Health and Safety issues at the workplace.

Ensure management control and supervision of all activities on sites. Work in accordance with Environmental Management System and

promote environmentally considerate work practices. Develop and promote good communications and professional

relationships between all levels of staff and employees on site. Ensure training plans are continually updated to ensure that the

workforce is competent. Plan, organise the appropriate resources in a safe and cost effective

manner. Checking that the quarries production levels are maintained safely to

schedule. Balancing sales and output by liaising with sales and commercial

teams. Liaise with engineering staff to ensure repairs/breakdown/preventative

servicing is undertaken. Altering the quarries production systems in accordance with the

materials required. Experience with excel, word, outlook. Providing the General Manager with information and statistics on each

quarry's performance. Maintaining up-to-date records and dealing with a range of paperwork. Ensuring that key Health and Safety legislation (Quarries Regulations

1999), implemented throughout the sites. Keeping up to date with relevant legislation and industry developments. Maintain the inspection systems and checklists in accordance with the

IMS system. Closely monitoring all areas of the quarrying operations to ensure that

extraction and processing work is carried out to the highest standard. Undertaking regular site inspections and risk assessments in order to

comply with all health and safety regulations and our IMS system.

Examining the materials produced to ensure that a high quality of product is maintained.

Qualifications and Experience (preferred)

Experience in quarrying (Previous Quarry Manager role essential) The applicant must hold as a minimum QCF6 / NVQ 4 Be a member of the Institute of Quarrying. Technical knowledge/experience on mobile equipment, washing and

dry screening processing plants Knowledge of Shotfiring and Blast design Experience in inert waste recycling operations
