Nashua’sjourneybeganin1973whenNashuaSouthAfricawasestablishedasasubsidiaryoftheUSA-basedNashuaCorporation,whose main line of business was the sale and service of liquid tonercopiers.NashuawasboughtbytheBarlowsGroupin1983andhasbeenoperatingasawholly-ownedSouthAfricancompanyeversince.

TheNashuaChildren’sCharityFoundation(NCCF)managesthecompany’scorporatesocialresponsibilityprojectsandhasbeendoingsosinceitsinceptionin2006. ThedirectoroftheNCCFwasinvolvedinthecharity
workthatNashuacarriedoutover25yearsago,long before companies began getting involved with CSIprojectsasameanstoboosttheirBEEratings.
As the volume of requests for help that the companyreceivedgrew,Nashuarealisedtherewasarealneedtoformalisetheprocess,atwhichpointtheyturnedtothecurrentdirectorforherhelpandguidancewhogladlyacceptedthatresponsibilityandfoundedtheNCCF.
The NCCF provides the following:

TheNCCFcurrentlyassistsapproximately54charitiesand12 000childrenwith360 000mealseverymonththatincludetwomealsadayandaschool lunch pack per child.
Undereducation,theNCCFsuppliesschooluniforms,transport,schoolstationary,schoolbags,educationaltoys,andtablesandchairstoeverythingfromthespecialneedsschoolstoday-care centres and pre-schools.
Whenitcomestobuilding,in2013alone,theNCCFassistedwith12builds,installingablutionfacilities,girls’andboys’dormrooms,bunkbeds,electrical,ceilingboards,tiling,carpeting,builttofitcabinetsandkitchensintoorphanages,safehouses,outreachcentres,day-carecentres,crèchesandspecial needs homes.
Lastly,intermsofoutingsandentertainment,theNCCFtakeschildrenfromalloverGautengtoavarietyofplaces.TheseincludeSunCityValleyoftheWaves,GoldReefCityThemePark,MonteCasinoBirdGardensandJetStoreswheretheydoanannualshoppingspreewith50childrenin8provincesthatisattendedbySAcelebslikeDannyK,KabeloandPJPowers.
