Tier one includes the top 2 per cent of solar PV manufacturers. They are vertically integrated, which means they control each stage of the manufacturing process. These companies invest heavily in research and development, use advanced robotic processes and have been manufacturing solar panels for over 5 years.

Tier one producers use the best grade of silicon to produce solar cells - the higher the silicon grade, the longer the solar cell will last and the better it will perform. Tier one manufacturers produce some of the best performing solar panels.

TIER ONE

TIER ONE PRODUCTS RECOMMENDED BY MERIDIAN SOLAR

Tier two includes companies who invest less in research and development, are reliant on both robotic and manual work on production lines and have often been in solar panel manufacture for 2 - 5 years. Tier two manufacturers produce good panels at good prices.

TIER TWO

Tier three encompasses 90% of new solar PV manufacturers. These companies assemble panels only, they usually don’t manufacture their own cells and don’t invest in research and development. They use human production lines for manual soldering of solar cells, which often isn’t the best approach as quality can vary operator to operator and day to day.

SOLAR PRODUCTSTIERS OF SOLAR PANEL QUALITYIn addition to cost, when choosing the best solar panel for you, it is important to consider both how it is manufactured and what materials are used. There are three tiers of manufacturer quality and Meridian Solar only supplies solar panels from the first two tiers.

OUTRIGHT PURCHASE Purchasing you solar system outright will provide you with maximum benefit over the 30+ years of your solar system. At Meridian Solar you can lock in an outright purchase price with a 10% initial deposit with the balance paid on the completion of the installation.POWER PURCHASE AGREEMENTS (PPA’S)A power purchase agreement (PPA) is a contract to buy or sell electricity at an agreed price and for an agreed long period of time (usually long term). PPAs are a well proven in the power industry and are an extremely common method of buying electricity. Particularly renewable energy. Meridian solar PPAs are a financial mechanism where we build, own and operate a solar asset on the premises of your business. Meridian Solar then sells the solar power generated by this asset back to you for say 15 or 20 years. This means no capital cost burden or risk involved for you. You enjoy the benefits of having a renewable power generation plant but none of the complexity, costs or maintenance associated with ownership. You only pay for the solar power. So if the sun doesn’t shine and the solar electricity doesn’t flow; you don’t pay.
