    Fuel Tech, Inc. (Fuel Tech) is an integrated company that uses a suite of technologies to provide boiler optimization, efficiencyimprovement and air pollution reduction and control solutions to utility and industrial customers worldwide. Fuel Tech's specialfocus is the worldwide marketing of its nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction and FUEL CHEM processes. The Air Pollution Control (APC)technology segment reduces NOx emissions in flue gas from boilers, incinerators, furnaces and other stationary combustionsources by utilizing combustion optimization techniques and Low-NOx and Ultra Low-NOx burners; NOxOUT and HERT High EnergyReagent Technology SNCR systems; systems that incorporate NOxOUT CASCADE, NOxOUT ULTRA and NOxOUT-SCR processes,and Ammonia Injection Grids and the Graduated Straightening Grid (GSG). On October 2, 2008, Fuel Tech completed itsacquisitions of Tackticks, LLC (Tackticks) and FlowTack, LLC (FlowTack). For the six months ended 30 June 2009, Fuel Tech Inc.'srevenue decreased 8% to $36.2M. Net loss totaled $1.8M vs. an income of $2.1M. Revenue reflects a decrease in sales from Airpollution control segment. Net loss reflects lower gross margins, increased cost of sales, a rise in selling, general & administrativeexpenses, lower interest income and the presence of other expense vs. an income.
