Comparative and Superlative
The difference between each other
Superlative
• Is the structure of the adverb used to compare three or more things (facts, events, people and animals).
• Example: Among all the boys, Kevin is the tallest one.
Superlative of Superiority
• A) With adverbs finished in –ly.• Exemple: Beth dances the most gracefully.
Superlative of Superiority
• B) With adverbs that don’t finishes with –ly• Example: Adam is the best dancer of all.
Superlative of Inferiority
• The least + adverb• Example: Amanda speaks the least clearly
among the class.
Comparative
• Is the structure of the adverb used to compare only two things (facts, events, people and animals).
Comparative of Equality
• Structure used with adverbs of any classifications, in affirmative or interrogative sentences.
• Example: Yoshi speaks portuguese as well as Mario
Comparative of Superiority
• A) With adverbs finished in –ly• Example: Sandra eats more slowly than Henry
Comparative of Superiority
• B) With adverbs that don’t finishes with –ly• Example:
Liza walks faster than Sandra.
Comparative of Inferiority
• Structure that can be used with any adverb: Less + Adverb + than
• Example:Dog number 1 runs less fast than dog number 2.
