STAFF SPOTLIGHTKatie Hausler has been with the City of Nassau Bay for over six years enthus ias t ica l l y greeting Nassau Bay residents as the Receptionist at City Hall.

She is also the coordinator for all of the City’s utility billing activities. Her cheerful, professional demeanor makes her a fantastic first contact for anyone trying to do business with the City.

The City of Nassau Bay Utility Department provides residents with the opportunity to make a voluntary $2.00 donation to the Nassau Bay Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service with the payment of each water bill. Donations are used by these departments for tools, resources, and capital items to better provide emergency services to our residents.

During the past year, the Volunteer Fire Department was able to use this money for two new radios that work with the new digital communication system to replace out-of-date equipment.

The Department was also able to purchase an upgraded sonar system for the fire boat. The new sonar system will better assist underwater searches by providing better quality sonar images that show more detail of a larger area as well as several other features that improve overall usability.

Residents interested in donating to the Nassau Bay Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service may simply add $2.00 to their payment when paying the “Total Due” amount on their water bill. Your donation may be considered a tax-deductible charitable donation because the City is a qualified entity and the donation is being used for a restricted public purpose. Please contact your tax professional for more information about tax-deductible charitable donations.

For more information about the Volunteer Fire Department, please visit www.nassaubayfd.com.

The above images compare the same underwater location as it is seen on the old sonar (on the left) and the new sonar (on the right). As you can see, the new sonar provides a much clearer image of a larger area around the boat.

BOAT PARADEThank you to all the participants that decorated their boats and joined the Cupid's Christmas Boat Parade on February 13th.

There were many bright and beautiful boats and we want to thank all that participated in Nassau Bay's portion of the parade. Each year, in addition to the awards presented by the Chamber of Commerce, the City of Nassau Bay selects the top 4 boats that travel by Nassau Bay.

Nassau Bay Mayor's Awards

The Annual CCEF Clear Creek & Nassau Bay Peninsula Cleanup held on February 13th was a great success thanks to the amazing volunteers who came out to help take care of our community!

22 volunteers set out on foot starting at the Peninsula Gate. In less than 4 hours, they filled 36 large trash bags and a trailer full of large debris for an estimated 3 tons of trash from Peninsula alone!

40 volunteers with Clear Creek Environmental Foundation set out by boat around Clear Creek and picked up over 50 bags of trash.

Thank you volunteers!
