Introduction:-

SUPARCO is going to organize the 1st Space Vocabulary Competition (SPELLATHON) as part activities

during the celebration of world Space Week 2017. Following stages are set for the competition.

The Competition will comprise of 03 Levels.

LEVEL -I: (Fill In the Blanks)

In this level words with missing letters will be showed for 20 seconds.

Teams will be answered in given time.

Winner’s teams will qualify for level II.

LEVEL -II: (Find Hidden Words)

In level II a word puzzle chart will be displayed individually for teams.

Each team will find five space related word within 02 minutes.

Winner teams will compete in next level.

LEVEL -III: (Picture Buzz Round)

In this level round space related pictures will be displayed on the screen

Teams will ring the bell to answer.

The team which rings the bell first will get the opportunity to answer.

Participation

a) Criteria for Participation

The competition is open to schools only. A branch of school will be treated as an individual school.

Each school can send a team of 02 students of age group 12 to 15 years.

Note: Students born in years 2002 - 2004 are eligible .

b) Registration Process

Submit the online registration form latest by 15th September 2017

OR Submit the hand-filled registration form with official stamp & properly sealed latest by 15th

September 2017

General Instructions

1. Mobile phones are strictly prohibited in SUPARCO premises.

2. Registration is to be done online through website where facilities are available. Govt. schools

would be given forms to be hand-filled with official seal stamped and returned the same

through courier by due date.

3. The names of the students are to be carefully filled in the form so as to write proper spellings

of the names on the certificates.

4. The accompanying teachers are required to fill in their correct CNIC number, cell phone

number, the school’s correct postal address and PTCL number for ease in communication and

record keeping.

5. Only students of 8th, 9th and 10th standards would be allowed to register for the event.

6. No school will be entertained after registration date is closed.

7. Besides competition team, maximum of 03 participants and 02 accompanying teachers from

each school would be allowed due to limited seating capacity in the auditorium.

8. No pick & drop facility shall be provided by SUPARCO.

9. Change of names of students and accompanying teachers would be entertained only until

registration is open. Kindly refrain from changing the names of the students or accompanying

teachers after registration is closed as it would not be given preference resulting in

disqualification of the school from the competition.

10. Entry at the gate would only be allowed if proper Student Identity Cards and CNIC cards are

presented by the students and their accompanying teachers.

11. The timings of the event are to be strictly followed.

12. Inappropriate, abusive or slang language will not be tolerated. No offensive remarks against

any political party/sect etc. will be tolerated.

13. Violation of defined rules may result in deduction of points or even disqualification.

14. The decision of the judges would be final and irrevocable.

Event Instructions

The participating schools will abide by the following rules:

1. Only those students will be allowed to participate who are nominated by school heads.

Nominations through Student Registration Form (attached with this document) should reach

competition coordinator Manager Abida Hashmani by 15 Sep, 2017 either by e-mail, TCS or

by fax.

2. One team will comprise only 02 students from each school.

3. Once the schools have nominated their participants, there will be no changes in the names

of the participants. In case any participants/s fails to appear on the day of the competition

the team will not be disqualified and will be allowed to one student as a team.

4. The teams have to come in their proper school uniforms for the competition.

5. The “Spellathon Competition” words/pictures will be displayed on screen & will be

conducted in rounds.

6. After the ‘word' is given to the team the total time given to each team will be 20 seconds to

answer. If the team starts spelling the word before the 20 seconds mark has reached he/she

shall be allowed to complete the spelling the word, but he/she will not be allowed to

retrace.

7. The team will not be allowed to retrace if the word asked has been completed once.

8. A new word/picture will be asked if there is any objection raised by a team.

9. In the event of any disruptions, the team that is being disrupted will get a new word and

new start time of 20 seconds.

10. Appeals, if any, have to be submitted to focal person and will be entertained by the Jury at

the end of each round. The official appeal form will be available with the focal person inside

the Hall.

11. Appeals may be filled only by the respective School’s Spellathon Coordinator. Jury will not

entertain appeals from individuals.

12. Teams will be required to stay quite when a team is being questioned. Comments and

remarks of all kinds to other team are prohibited.

13. The audience must Not prompt or call out during the competition. They will be required to

maintain pin drop silence at the time of the competition.

Prize Distribution Ceremony

14. Prize distribution ceremony will be held at NCRG AUDITORIUM on 10th Oct 2017 from 14:15

pm -1500 hrs.

15. Certificates of participation and prizes for top three teams will be distributed.

16. All participants are encouraged to attend.
