Role Functional Responsibility MinimumEducation/Experience
Editor An experienced translator who reviews a translation against the original source document. The editor is responsible for re-viewing and correcting any issues with the original translation, such as spelling, grammar/syntax, style/tone, terminology, and idiomatically appropriate language. Editors should have ad-vanced knowledge of the current technological tools available in the language services industry, such as Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) and Translation Memory (TM) software.
B.A. in a language-related or relevant field from a 4-year institution; Professional language/translation certi-fication; Advanced Subject Matter Expertise; Minimum Experience: 5 years
Proofreader Demonstrates knowledge in reviewing translated documents and checking for spelling and punctuation errors, transcription of numbers and other relevant data, verifying missing content, and correct formatting of the content. Proofreaders must work with the original translator(s) and editor(s) to address any issues found in the translation.
B.A. in a language-related or relevant field from a 4-year institution; Professional lan-guage/translation certification; Minimum Experience: 3 years
DTP/Graphic Designer A design specialist who creates visual layouts for brochures, flyers, manuals, booklets, etc. using specialized graphic design software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Quark Xpress, etc.), as well as replacing and reformatting files provided by clients and re-placing original text with translated text so that the translated version mirrors the original.
B.A. in graphic design or other specialized training/certification from an ac-credited institute; Minimum Experience: 1 year

Audio Transcriptionist Transcribing foreign language audio content from a variety of me-dia, including digital audio files, CDs/DVDs, telephone recordings, etc. Once a written transcription has been created, it may then be translated into English by a separate translator (and additional cost).
B.A. in language or lan-guage-related field. Native or near-native speaker of source language. Subject matter expertise. Professional lan-guage/translation certification. Documented experience with audio transcription. Minimum Experience: 3 years.
American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter
Provide interpretation services between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL) and other forms of communica-tion for individuals who are deaf/hard-of-hearing (D/HH).
B.A. in American Sign Language or relevant field. Professional training and certification from recog-nized organization, such as the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID). Subject Matter Expertise. Minimum Experience: 3 years
On-Site Linguist Provide expert on-site linguistic support at a government-spec-ified facility. Key tasks include translation, interpretation, docu-ment triage, language analysis, audio/video monitoring, etc.
