ANTITRUST STATEMENTTo be included on all meeting agendas and read at the beginning of meetings involving 2 or more competitors or potential competitors.

CompTIA has a policy of strict compliance with federal and state antitrust laws. The antitrust laws prohibit competitors from

engaging in actions that could result in an unreasonable restraint of trade. Consequently, you agree to avoid discussing certain

topics in participating at any CompTIA events or activities, including, without limitation, any discussions relating to prices, fees,

rates, profit margins, or other terms or conditions of sale (including allowances, credit terms, and warranties); allocation of

markets or customers or division of territories; or refusals to deal with or boycotts of suppliers, customers or other third parties,

or topics that may lead participants not to deal with a particular supplier, customer or third party.

Welcome to the third CompTIA Annual Member Meeting (AMM). Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to support CompTIA and help us drive industry-wide programming—we value your input.

CompTIA educates the IT community, certifies the technology workforce and advocates on their behalf, and gives back to the industry through philanthropy. We’ll touch on each of those principles during AMM.

Over the next two days, you’ll: • View our new online community roadmaps, • Learn from your peers and industry thought-leaders, • Hear fresh ways to grow your business, • Get in-depth market intelligence, and • Learn how to forecast possible business opportunities.

During Wednesday’s luncheon, we’ll celebrate the “game-changers” of the IT industry as we induct the 2012 class of the IT Hall of Fame. We’ll also present a special Lifetime Achievement Award to Gary Gillam, vice president of channel operations under North American Reseller Sales (NARS) at Xerox Corp. Wrapping up the day will be an insightful evening keynote by Stephen M.R. Covey, author of The Speed of Trust and Smart Trust.

Whether you’re already actively involved in CompTIA or taking that first step to become more involved, we’re happy you’re here! AMM is the place to connect and participate with the more than 200 industry leaders we’re expecting this year. This is the time to build relationships with your peers, share best practices and address specific issues related to your business.

To maximize your networking and learning experience, we’ve provided a variety of resources, including the Annual Member Meeting Conference Guide. This document includes speaker bios, information on new member communities, CompTIA research and other tools to help you get the most from your AMM— and your CompTIA membership.

Sincerely,Todd ThibodeauxPresident & CEOCompTIA, Inc.

John Zogby, Pollster, Author and Opinion Leader

Want to have a head start on handicapping the results of the 2012 Presidential election?

Renowned U.S. political pollster, author and opinion leader John Zogby will present insights

and polling data at AMM particularly pertinent to the IT industry. In November 1996, Mr. Zogby

stood alone in calling that presidential election with pinpoint accuracy. In the controversial 2000

elections, daily national tracking polls conducted by Zogby International in the last few weeks

foretold a tightening of the race for president while nearly all other polling firms projected

an easy victory for Gov. George W. Bush. This 2012 election cycle presents interesting new

currents—stronger partisan strains, the emergence of Tea Partiers, Libertarians and Occupy Wall

Streeters. What does it all mean? The IT Industry is a crucial engine in our nation’s economy

and the balance of political power could influence what sort of priorities are set to advance

innovation, workforce development, the interests of small and medium sized IT firms and more.

Be informed and join us for this very special presentation.

in some cases, the consumerization of IT is forcing them to ensure all devices accessing com-

pany data are secure. Join us to hear about the latest trends in enterprise mobility. Will it really

kill the desktop? What are some strategies for dealing with the BYOD (bring your own device)

environment? And what’s the impact, if any, of the iGeneration workforce?

A Panel Discussion with Solution Providers and Vendors

The business of being an IT solution provider has changed substantially over the past

10 years. The formerly technically-oriented organization that used to specify, install and

support technology systems has become more service-oriented; identifying, addressing, and

resolving it customers’ business challenges. Join us to find out which trends are impacting

this transformation and the strategies used to take advantage of the opportunities these

changes present. We’ll also discuss how solution providers can respond to the cloud,

including changes to the pricing model, margins, business structures, vendor programs and

customer adoption rates. Learn how to map your business plan to the “new channel,” during

this interactive panel discussion.

5:15—6:15 p.m. Keynote: Leadership at the Speed of Trust

Stephen M.R. Covey, author of The Speed of Trust and the recent follow-up book Smart Trust.

Trust is hard, real, and quantifiable. It measurably affects both speed and cost. A function of

character and competence, trust can be created and destroyed, effectively taught and learned.

In most cases, lost trust can even be restored. This fast-paced and engaging presentation

dramatically reveals TRUST as the hidden variable that will become your most leverageable tool,

giving you a distinct strategic advantage.

By framing trust in a new light this presentation will:

• Make the business and economic case for trust.

• Show how the ability to generate trust is the critical leadership competency in this new, global

economy.

• Demonstrate how to master the skill of engendering trust both personally and in your

organization.

6:15—7:00 p.m. Annual Member Meeting Reception and Book Signing with Stephen M.R. Covey

After two full days of meetings and sessions, please join us for one final opportunity to network

SPEAKERS

AgenDA

18

Stephen M. R. Covey

Stephen M. R. Covey is co-founder and CEO of CoveyLink Worldwide. A sought-after and

compelling keynote speaker and advisor on trust, leadership, ethics, and high performance,

he speaks to audiences around the world. He is the author of The SPEED of Trust, a

groundbreaking and paradigm-shifting book that challenges our age-old assumption

that trust is merely a soft, social virtue and instead demonstrates that trust is a hard-

edged, economic driver—a learnable and measurable skill that makes organizations more

profitable, people more promotable, and relationships more energizing. He advocates that

nothing is as fast as the speed of trust and that the ability to establish, grow, extend, and

restore trust with all stakeholders is the critical leadership competency of the new global

economy. Covey passionately delivers that message and is dedicated to enabling individuals

and organizations to reap the dividends of high trust. Audiences and organizations

alike resonate with his informed, practical approach to real-time issues that affect their

immediate and long-term performance.

He is the former CEO of Covey Leadership Center, which, under his stewardship, became the

largest leadership development company in the world. Covey personally led the strategy that

propelled his father’s book, Dr. Stephen R. Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People,

to one of the two most influential business books of the 20th Century, according to CEO

Magazine. A Harvard MBA, he joined Covey Leadership Center as a Client Developer and

later became National Sales Manager and then President & CEO. Under Covey’s direction, the

company grew rapidly and profitably, achieving Inc. 500 status. As President & CEO, he nearly

doubled revenues to over $110 million while increasing profits by 12 times. During that period,

both customer and employee trust reached new highs and the company expanded throughout

the world into over 40 countries. This greatly increased the value of the brand and company.

The company was valued at only $2.4 million when Covey was named CEO, and, within three

years, he grew shareholder value to $160 million in a merger he orchestrated with then Franklin

Quest to form FranklinCovey.

Over the years, Covey has gained considerable respect and influence with executives and

leaders of Fortune 500 companies as well as with mid- and small-sized private sector and

public sector organizations he’s consulted. Clients recognize his unique perspective on real-

world organizational issues based on his practical experience as a former CEO.

Covey currently serves on the board/advisory board of several entities, including the Human

Performance Institute—the leader in energy management technology—where he serves as

Advisory Board Chairman.

Covey resides with his wife and children in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains.

Principal Consultant, MMP, Inc.

Ryan has more than 19 years of experience in marketing, sales, and management in the

technology industry. Prior to joining MMP, Ryan was the WW Practice Director for Channel

unparalleled research assets of IPED, Ryan worked to identify and implement best practices for

Through face-to-face experience with literally thousands of solution providers, Ryan has gained

a detailed understanding of the business issues facing IT channel companies, and how to

to connect the interests of various vendor functions to gain commitment around the critical role

of sales channels.

services are in demand by Fortune 500 firms and savvy startups alike. Over the years, Ryan

has delivered a message of consultative selling, dynamic differentiation, and visionary business

leadership to thousands of sales, marketing, and business leaders. His presentations are

delivered in public and private venues from conferences to seminars, sales meetings to annual

meetings, for audiences ranging from 10s to 1000s.
