The CNC-8 is a computerized numerical control system featu-ring the latest and most sophisticated technology available forbending machines. The system relies on the latest generation ofindustrial computer to manage and store programs, and on acontrol unit to manage the axes and the input/output.
The CNC-8 can manage up to 8 axes simultaneously, and eachaxis can be controlled by different speeds, which can be set ateach program’s step.A lot of research and development continues to be invested in makingthe industrial computer the best it can be in terms of both hardwareand software. The computer runs on the well-known MicrosoftWindows operating system (supplied with the user’s licence).
Even inexperienced operators can use the Wintau software,which manages the machine and executes the bending pro-grams, as a simple and intuitive tool for bending program mana-gement. Through windows displaying graphic simulations of theworkpiece and guided instructions, the Wintau software allowsthe operator, step by step, to create even very complex pro-grams.
Previewing the shape to be made in 3D on the screen in realtime makes creating a new program or modifying an existing onea fun and simple task.
Nevertheless, the main strength of CN TAURING machines isthe predetermination of the bending radii. Thanks to this feature, operators do not need to waste time andmaterial finding the bending radius while running a program; allthey need to do is enter the requested radius in millimetres. The CN will automatically position the bending roll at the rightquote.

Another important feature of the CNC-8 is the option toprogram using macroinstructions.
These are instructions for making predetermined shapes andare stored in the memory of the system; to use these time-saving tools, operators only need to enter the main dimen-sions of the shape.
For example, the operator can enter the total width andheight of the arch and let the CNC-8 auto-compile the pro-gram for a Mediterranean arch (arch with three radii); then,the operator can perfect the resulting program if necessary.
The new CAD-CAM Wintau software (optional) allowsoperators to draw the desired workpiece directly on themonitor of the machine while the system creates the pro-gram table in real time.The CAD-CAM Wintau software can also be used toimport AutoCAD files (DXF format).
Each program can contain up to 250 steps, while there is nolimit on the number of programs that can be stored on thehard disk.The programs can be arranged in different folders for sim-pler file retrieval.
Finally, the CNC-8 system is designed to create anysymmetrical or irregular geometric shape containing up to250 bending radii.

The innovative industrial computer includes a built-in 12”touch-screen LCD display, a processor, and a HDD.
The industrial keyboard with an IP44 degree of protectioncan be used safely in highly polluted environments.Furthermore, the touch-screen monitor is ideal for selectingpopular functions for programming and starting the automa-tic cycles directly on the screen, while the mouse can be fit-ted at any time for specific programming needs.
The CNC-8 system is also supplied with a floppy disk driveand CD-ROM drive.

The axis control unit manages the input signals coming fromthe machine and processes the output to control the mecha-nisms and devices of the bending machine appropriately.The computer and the axis control unit work together tomanage the bending machine effectively.
The latest version of the Wintau programming software ispreinstalled on the CNC-8; the operator can keep the soft-ware up to date even after several time from purchase.
The Wintau software has undergone continuous improve-ments over the years to make it evermore sophisticated butalso intuitive and easy to use.
Programming is made easy by macro instructions that allowthe operator to determine, in specific windows, the straightand bent segments of the geometrical shape to be made.
Machines equipped with the CNC-8 computerized numeri-cal control can be used in many applications.Some examples are shown in the figures. Applications includethe following: frames for buses, earth-moving equipment, rollbars, flanges, coils with fixed and variable radii, window ordoor frames, railings, continuous façades, metal furnishings(chairs, beds), bearing structures and trusses for tunnels, cove-rings for swimming pools and sports grounds, accessories forthe boating, shipbuilding and aircraft industries, satellite dishes,convectors, and conveyors for cereals and silos.
During programming, a very practical simulation windowhelps the operator by displaying, in real time, the workpiecein 3 D.
Other software is available to complete the Wintau pro-gram. This software is designed for specific uses such as theprogram for bending window and door frames, the programto draw in CAD directly on the CNC-8, and the program toimport AutoCAD files in the DXF format

The console features an integrated, extended alphanumeri-cal keyboard designed for industrial applications and theeasy entering of data during all programming phases.

The CNC-8 computerized numerical control is supplied with the very useful Electronic ArcmeterARC 50/130, ARC 50/300, ARC 50/500(depending on the model of bendingmachine) - to measure the bending radii and read the results directly onthe LCD display.
