EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Department of Computer Science held its bi-annual Open House Event on 31st of December 2015. The

event is a great platform for establishing a direct interaction between the software industry and our

department. The highlight of the event was the display of Final Year Projects by the graduating batch to

showcase their talent to the invited guests from the industry. This is a wonderful opportunity for the

visiting organizations to find the right human resource to scale their teams as well as possible

collaborations with our faculty to solve some of the real world problems they may be working on in their

respective organizations.

INDUSTRIAL LIAISON CELL (ILC) Department of Computer Science feels that a direct interaction with the software industry is paramount

to ensuring a high quality and up to date dissemination of knowledge to our students. Industrial Liaison

Cell was formulated by the department in early 2015 to establish and strengthen a steady link with

partners from the industry so that their feedback can help us achieve even better standards. Many

activities are arranged by this Cell to foster this relationship throughout the semester but the highlight is

the Open House event arranged at the end of each semester. During this event our graduating batch is

presented in front of industrial representatives to showcase their final year projects and demonstrate

their skill set. Arrangements are made for the participating organization to conduct on-spot interviews.

Faculty participation is also ensured at these occasions both to get the feedback to improve their

respective knowledge areas but also to work on possible collaborations.


PARTICIPATION FROM INDUSTRY The event was well attended by the industry with representatives from around thirty software houses

based in and around Islamabad. A list of these representative is attached in Annex-A of this report.

Industrial Liaison Cell was able to convince our partners to sponsor activities during the event. OGDCL

CSR initiative was the main sponsor on the occasion and GM CSR Mr. Abdul Rauf Khajjak also kindly

agreed to be the chief guest on the occasion.

Croem Technologies generously agreed to sponsor the top three projects on the occasion. Their team

keenly interacted with our students to find the suitable candidates for hiring and conducted on-spot

interviews also. They have shortlisted eight of the graduating batch students to evaluate further in their

office in Software Technology Park, Islamabad.

GRADUATE PROFILE BOOKLET From the generous funds of our sponsors the department was able to print the profile of the graduating

batch of students in the form of a booklet. This booklet has the resume of all the graduating students

and was distributed as a take away for all the participants from the industry. The booklets are also

dispatched to various software and telecom operators who were unable to attend the event. The cover

design was also chosen via an open competition amongst the students to encourage them to develop

their graphics design skills. The final cover was designed by Mr. Aftab Hussain a student of BSE 4th

semester.

JOB OFFERS Atleast six of our graduating batch students were extended job offers by Creatrixe Technologies on the

day, one female graduate was hired by WanClouds as an intern and eight shortlisted for detailed

interviews by Croem Technologies Islamabad after initial interviews during the event. Other participants

shortlisted candidates but due to shortage of time decided to call the students to their premises for a

detailed interview session.

CONCLUSION Overall the event was a great success. Participating organization were keen to help the department

through their constant engagement. Many organizations have agreed to send in their representatives to

conduct hands on training and seminars on latest tools and technologies during the semester. Some

have pledged summer internship programs for our students. Open Islamabad has agreed to sponsor five

student projects through co-supervision in the area of Internet of Things. We also had the preliminary

talks in this regard to setup an IoT Lab in the CS department.
