You can stay connected with your weekly Concordia Connections. I encourage you to be a part of the exciting things God is doing here at Concordia and beyond as we make disciples who share grace with each other, the community, and the world!

Changed Lives Impact Parents I love a good research project, and when the time came to choose a preschool for our eldest daughter, Lilah, I dove right into the search. I talked to friends, visited schools, and read reviews online. We’re lucky in this community to have so many wonderful schools to choose from but I admit I found the number of choices a bit daunting. Each one I visited had most of the qualities I was looking for, but all seemed to be missing “something.” One day at my mom’s group I was discussing my dilemma with some friends when someone asked, “have you considered Concordia?” Well no, I hadn’t even heard of it! And after one visit I knew we had found the right school for us. The teachers and volunteers are dedicated to the academic and creative development of our children. They are equally

devoted to their spiritual growth. That is what made Concordia the perfect school for our family.

Lilah attended CLP for two years. In that time we watched her mature from a sweet, impulsive toddler to a thoughtful, caring, intelligent “big” girl. Under the loving care and guidance of Mrs. Krantz and Mrs. Barrington, she developed a love for learning.

Middle School & High School Ministry

Young people’s faith becomes more durable with the presence of formative religious experiences early in their lives, even in the absence of religious parents or congregational ties. Most teenagers who commit to God do so before age 14. (Christian Smith, Souls in Transition) Quality, safe, fun, and deep experiences for Middle School students (6th-8th grade) begin on Sept. 8 at 9:30 a.m. and they will meet weekly. High school students begin their fall season on Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. at Zeppos in Pullman. They will meet the 1st Wednesdays of each month at 7 p.m. High school leaders are Eric Bouma & Levi O’Loughlin. Middle School leaders are Jerry Hein and Eric & Trish Bechtl. All students are encouraged to invite and bring their friends.

Today’s young people are the least likely to be connected with

any church. (Barna, 2013)

Greatest (62%) (born before 1928) Silent (44%) (1928-1945) Boomer (32%) (1946-1964) Gen X (14%) (1965-1980) Millenial (3%) (1981 or later)

Financial Update (through 8/18)

Lutheran Student Fellowship

Having lived in Pullman for decades, I have driven Stadium Way literally thousands of times. I’ve dodged students with cell phones glued to their ears and enjoyed hot, summer days with no students. I have marveled at falling leaves, falling snow and everything in between. It is a completely familiar route, but variety abounds with each trip. A new academic year in campus ministry is very similar. The course is relatively established, but each new year brings

amazing gifts to share! New students attend LSF and worship for the first time. New leaders emerge. New energy is infused into the Tuesday night lineup. God has a lovely way of instilling freshness into the familiar, and for that I am grateful! I pray that He is doing the same for you in whatever area of life most needs a boost.

Blessings, Ann

Coming

This Fall

HAMILTON (cont. from p. 1) Not only that, her understanding of Jesus and His love for her has flourished. This year we are sending her to kindergarten with the confidence that she can accomplish anything. As a parent, that is a great feeling. Our second daughter, Vivian started preschool last year and Dorothy (1 ½) eagerly awaits her turn! We are proud to be a part of the Concordia family. Our children receive a wonderful learning experience and are truly loved and nurtured by their teachers. My husband and I are grateful to Becky, Sue, and all the good people of Concordia who serve our children. We thank God that our children have such a wonderful place to grow and learn.

Lynda and Dan Hamilton live in Pullman and have experienced the life change Concordia Lutheran Preschool can bring to kids and families.
