Ryan Concept: Owner/Architect were looking for a free flowing design that would compliment existing epoxy terrazzo and carpet, look natural, low maintenance and have a high sheen. Solution: Concrete Arts provided a completely custom Mosaic floor. Mosaic utilizes a licensed patent “Wet on Wet” Monolithic pour. Concrete Arts was contracted to provide the owner with custom polished concrete floor that would provide a cafeteria floor which had two unique appearances and feels. The goal was to create the feeling of the beach on the perimeters with a winding middle area which would shimmer and glisten. To accomplish this, the perimeter areas were poured first using an integrally colored concrete using the color Beach Sand. These were poured first. Then Concrete Arts used its Mosaic topping to pour the winding area in the middle. Mosaic is a 5/8” thick cementitious topping which is applied to a base slab shortly after placement, which creates a “wet-on-wet” monolithic slab. Inherent in this mix was a Snow White color mixed with a Cool Gray to provide tone. Also added to the mix was decorative black and blue aggregate. Mirrored glass, sea shells and mother of pearl were also hand-seeded to create the shimmer and iridescence. Once both areas were placed and sufficiently hardened, Concrete Arts began the grinding and polishing process. This exposed the beauty of the glass and aggregate while providing a low maintenance, durable surface with great sheen and light reflectivity.

Concept: Owner/Architect were looking for a free flowing design that would compliment existing epoxy terrazzo and carpet, look natural, low maintenance and have a high sheen.
