INVITATION

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

(1 Cor 1:3).

n behalf of the ICCRS Sub-Committee for Asia-Oceania (ISAO), I wholeheartedly invite leaders of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of all

the nations in Asia and Oceania to come together as one family to the Second Asia-Oceania CCR Leaders’ Conference in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, from Thursday, 24 to Sunday, 27 November 2011. Having entered into the 43rd year of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, it is appropriate that we take some time together to thank the Almighty God for the extraordinary blessings He has poured out upon the Church through the grace of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.

As this Conference is expected to promote unity, fellowship and exchange of experiences among the Renewal entities in different countries in the Region, we expect leaders of various levels from the National Service Committees, Prayer Groups, Communities, Ministries as well as different expressions of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal across Asia-Oceania to participate in the Conference. The Conference will go a long way in formulating a common vision for the Renewal in the Asia-Oceania Region. Therefore, please mobilize intercession for the spiritual success of the event.

It is, therefore, with much excitement that I invite you to participate in the Conference. Please begin planning now so that you are able to come and share these days with us in Kota Kinabalu.

Let us continue to be united in prayer. May God bless you all. Your brother in Christ Jesus, Cyril John Chairman ICCRS Sub-Committee for Asia-Oceania

WELCOME to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

gladly welcome the idea of having the 2nd Asia-Oceania CCR Leaders’ Conference in Kota Kinabalu in

late November 2011. It is an honor for the Archdiocese to play host to leaders of the Charismatic Renewal across the region to meet and share what the Lord has done in and through their lives.

As a renewal movement, CCR continues to attract many believers and non-believers to the love of God and to experience the power of the Spirit working in ordinary events. One just has to humbly desire to respond to God’s love and cry out, “Lord, let me see again!” (Lk. 18:43) I believe this second gathering of CCR Leaders would be a time to share what each has seen in the transforming love and power of God in many lives in Asia-Oceania. That transformation will continue and may even happen while they share and listen to each other. I pray that the Conference would be well attended. May it be a moment of healing, anointing and empowerment by the Lord to all who commit themselves to be His instrument of love, peace and justice in societies today. May the Spirit lead and guide you. Most Rev. Datuk John Lee Archbishop of Kota Kinabalu

What Is Isao?

he Vatican has recognized the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services (ICCRS) as a body for the promotion of Catholic Charismatic Renewal, with a juridical personality, according to Canon

116, and approved the Statutes of ICCRS. At the international level, the role of ICCRS, as mandated in its charter from the Holy See, is to serve the worldwide Renewal in all of its expressions and identities. In April 2000, Pope John Paul II stated in a personal message, “…the task of ICCRS is to coordinate and promote exchange of experiences and reflections among Catholic Charismatic Communities throughout the world…” To facilitate deeper communion among different nations and expressions within the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, ICCRS has been promoting the concept of Regional Sub-Committees. ICCRS Sub-Committee for Asia-Oceania (ISAO) was formed after 42 leaders from the Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia, East Asia and Oceania met together in Singapore on 9th and 10th December, 2006 for a time of prayer, sharing, discernment and planning under the auspices of ICCRS. ISAO serves the CCR in the Asia and Oceania as a centre of unity, communication and cooperation in order to fulfill Christ’s desire, “That they may all be one” (Jn 17:21) and to keep Christ’s body without divisions (1 Cor 12: 4-31). The headquarters of ISAO is situated in Singapore. The ISAO is responsible for strengthening fellowship within the Renewal in the Asia-Oceania Region, convening consultations and events and also for reaching out and supporting those countries which are in need of guidance and help.
