INTRODUCTION &BACKGROUND
Ghana has been identified as one of the fast growing economiesin Sub-Sahara Africa and is rated as a low middle incomeeconomy
The discovery of oil and gas has added greater impetus to itsdevelopmental efforts. Oil and gas is said to contribute US$ 2bnto Ghana's economic development efforts with gold accounting
for about US$ 3.7bn. This growth trend is expected to generate additional resources
for Ghana to implement interventions for sustainabledevelopment.
This growth rate is also expected to have greater impact on
implementing interventions to promote equity and equality, reduce social inclusion as well as addressing vulnerabilitycircumstances among women, children, youth, elderly andpersons with disability
Ghana recognizes the need to promote the attainment ofSustainable Development Goals (SDGs) . This is expected to
promote regional integration and address socio-economic issueswithin Africa with emphasis on the vulnerable and excluded.10/31/2013
