Executive Summary
• 38 out of 52 countries are pessimistic about the economic situation in their country in the 2nd half 2008– A major drop in the Consumer Confidence Index for the 2nd time in 12
months
• Economy now the major concern for consumers globally
• 63% of respondents believe they are in economic recession– Only 1 in 5 believe the recession will be over in the next 12 months
• Consumers likely to cut back on spending on clothes, entertainment, brown goods– Globally, 1 in 3 would switch to cheaper groceries to cope with tight money
