For children, we adapt existing faith formation programming, and supplement it with additional time and resources, to meet a kiddo where he or she is at. For adults, it is a “deep dive” process lasting from September to June – almost an entire year! Regular attendance at Sunday Mass is assumed throughout. A sponsor journeys with you the whole time, eager to provide one on one support. As a group, we grow closer to Christ, the Scriptures, and the Church. And the entire community at SFX holds you up in prayer and love and freedom – not everyone who begins the process finishes it, or finishes it at the same time, and that’s just fine. Confirmation Preparation:

The purpose of Confirmation Preparation is twofold: 1) to prepare 10th grade students to receive the Sacrament of

Confirmation and 2) to ignite in them a passion for ongoing faith formation with their peers and the wider community.

Aimed at 10th grade; older students welcome. Uses the multi-media components of St. Mary’s Press “Called to Mercy”

platform, with adaptations, including an overnight retreat, service to parish and community, supplemental reading,

sponsorship by a caring adult (not a parent), and faith formation opportunities in community with the larger High School

Youth Group.

Preparation for First Reconciliation and Eucharist: Aimed at 2nd graders; up to 4th grade by Pastor’s permission. 5th grade and up, see RCIA/C. The Sacramental life of the Church is FULL of GRACE! Seeing it through the eyes of your young one can be a moving revelation for grown-ups. At SFX, preparation for the sacraments is a “with your kid” activity. At least one family grown up is required to be along at every session – more are always welcome. We create some intergenerational opportunities. Sometimes we split up grownups and kids. It’s a great time! Meetings held in SFX Loyola Building 6:00 – 7:30pm Thursday Oct. 11th – Meeting - Reconciliation Thursday Nov. 15th Meeting – Reconciliation Monday Dec. 10th – First Reconciliation at Advent Penance Service Thursday Dec. 13th – Meeting: From Forgiveness to FEAST! Thursday Jan 17th – Eucharist Thursday Feb. 7th – Eucharist Thursday March 14th – Eucharist Thursday May 2nd – Eucharist Sunday May 12th Mothers’ Day – First Communion Celebration Thursday May 23rd – Toward 2nd Communion Children’s Liturgy of the Word: Riedy Hall during 10am Mass Aimed at kids from K to 5th grade. Children’s Liturgy of the Word is my favorite time of the week! During our 10am Mass, all the young, and young at heart, receive the blessing of the assembly to go hear God’s Word with their little ears downstairs. We have a fantastic bench of loving grown up helpers and, this year, we’re going to offer some separate activities for the “littles” and the “bigs” who come down. The fun begins Sunday, September 9th and goes all the way to June 30th – at the regular 10am mass only, except for Christmas and Easter. Safe Environment Training: Meets in the SFX Loyola Building 2-5pm Aimed at everyone. We take safety for our kiddos very seriously. In compliance with Diocesan requirements, all of our volunteers, children, and families receive VIRTUS safe environment training that is age appropriate. For families and kids, that happens at the beginning of the year on one day, Sunday Oct. 7th. For all other adults who wish to serve kids in our parish, we offer a series of training courses throughout the year between regular Sunday Masses. You only need to attend one of these to meet the requirement, and if you’ve already been, and have kept up on your bulletins, you don’t have to go again. Sunday Sept 23 Sunday Jan 13th Sunday March 31st

Sunday Morning Religious Education: Aimed at K to 8th grade kids. We’re digging in the dirt, singing, praying, playing wild games and, yes, learning. We’re blessed with RE teachers who are on fire for kids and the Lord. We have four levels: K-1, 2-3, 4-5, and 6,7,8 Jr. High. This can be a “drop your kids off” event – but you’re always welcome to stay for the fun! On Sundays when we are in session, it runs from 9:10 to 9:55 – squeezed right in between Masses. Watch this year for periodic adult faith formation offerings at this same time slot. For the kids, there are three 7 week unique sessions. This year, the Fall Session focuses on The Creed. The Advent/Christmas session gets us ready for the big Christmas Eve Mass. And the Spring session focuses on Death & Resurrection. High School Youth Group Core Team: Core Team is for Confirmed juniors and seniors, who are active in their Catholic faith, who want to serve, lead, and grow in their Catholic faith. It blends the work of the Diocese of Helena Catholic Youth Convention Board with local events and activities to create a power house crew shining Christ’s love into our High Schools. Justice Outreach Project, Browning MT July 10-15 Legendary Lodge Leadership Camp, July 24th to 29th CYC Board meeting 1: August 24-26 CYC Board meeting 2: Oct. 5th – 7th CYC Board Meeting 3: Nov. 30 to Dec 1 CYC Board Meeting 4: Feb 22 to 24 CYC Convention: March 22-24 High School Youth Group: Psalm 133:1 – “How pleasant it is when people dwell together in unity.” High School youth group is a place for students in grades 9-12 from different schools, areas, parishes and walks of life to dwell together in unity through their common faith. A place first and foremost to experience community, but students will also be seeped in prayer, exposed to catechesis, and given service opportunities and leadership development. Youth group will meet every Thursday at 6 pm in the Loyola building. There will also be opportunity to just gather as community Sunday’s at 4:30 pm, but these meetings may take place in coffee shops, parks, or anywhere we can just be together and have fun! Frenchtown gathers most Wednesday evenings. Stay tuned for what’s sure to be an awesome year, and check out the calendar!

JR High Youth Group: Middle School (6th-8th grade) is often an awkward time for many, but the MIddle School Youth Group exists to help our young teens navigate these years with friendship, fun, food, and, above all, a strong foundation in Christ. The group gathers on scheduled Sundays from 9-10 a.m. upstairs in the Loyola Building (ending in time for 10:00 mass). However, there are also numerous service and social activities to put our faith in action--a couple big events include: a Diocesan-wide Junior High Rally, a dedicated Missoula Area Junior High Retreat, and Youth Engaged in Service (Y.E.S) projects to assist those who need a helping hand around their home. So, if you want to build a strong Catholic, have some fun and explore the fine art of doughnut-consumption, then the Middle School Youth Group is the group to join!
