As I reflect on the past year and all of our progress, I'm grateful for Keyna's leadership and diligence and am excited about how far we’ve come. Founded in 1937, the Florida Retail FederaMon is the statewide trade associaMon represenMng retailers -- the businesses that sell directly to consumers. Samantha also leads the Florida Retail FederaMon Sustainability Council which is comprised of Florida retailers that have idenMfied environmental and sustainability issues as an important factor in the operaMon of their companies. Council members represent retailers of all sizes and types. PTR Manufactures a full line of cardboard balers and waste compactors. PTR’s Mission is to help protect and preserve the environment by providing and servicing green-built recycling and waste reducMon systems. Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida is commiZed to serving people with disabiliMes and disadvantages by offering life-changing opportuniMes to achieve independence. Our programs and services are designed to give a "hand up, not a handout.“ Every day, the universal symbol for recycling reminds us to recycle boZles, paper, cans and more. Forthethirdyear,theFloridaRecyclingPartnership,FloridaDepartmentofEnvironmentalProtecEon,andothersparEcipatedinFloridaRecyclesDayattheCapitol.Thisyear’seventwasheldonthefirstflooroftheCapitolwherelegislatorsandthegeneralpublicwereaskedtotakethe“RecyclingPledge.”

FDEPSecretaryJonSteversonkickedofftheeventwithFloridaRecyclingPartnershipChair,KimBrunsonfromPublixSupermarkets.Legislators,staffandthegeneralpublicaUendedandsignedtherecyclingpledge:•Learn.Iwillfindoutwhatmaterialsarecollectedforrecyclinginmycommunity.•Act.Reducemypersonalwastebyrecycling.Withinthenextmonth,Iwillrecyclemore.•Share.Inthenextmonth,Iwillencourageonefamilymemberoronefriendtotakethepledge.DisplaysfromdifferentcompaniesandorganizaEonswerealsopartoftheevent.
