Area bands and ensembles provide perhaps the most memorable playing moments for young musicians. The first experience of being a part of a large musical group can be inspiring, daunting and addictive....all at once!
The Music Service Area Ensembles provide this initial access to group music making at no cost to parents, pupils or schools. There are 36 Area Ensembles designed to meet the local needs of all instrumentalists in the city. Hundreds of children come along each week and have fun playing together.
What to expectRehearsals will include lots of ensemble playing, songs and activities for young players to enjoy. Skilled and experienced Music Service teachers will arrange music so that players of every level can be catered for within the group.
All groups rehearse for 16 weeks, working towards one of 4 Gala Concerts at the brand new Concert Hall at the new Birmingham Conservatoire or a Rock & Pop Concert at City and South College. These will be in March 2018. Players, parents and teachers work hard to commit to weekly rehearsals so that the musical performances can demonstrate the unique talents of each group.

The groups are scattered all across the city, so there should be one near your school. You do not need to attend an audition, you simply come along and join in! Pre-registration is recommended, and can be completed by visiting the website: www.servicesforeducation.co.uk
