The world around us is changing rapidly. Disruptive innovations are creating new industries and new business models, and destroying old ones. New technologies, data analytics and social networks are having a huge impact on how people communicate, collaborate and work. Most of the kids in school today will end up in jobs that do not even exist today. What does all of this mean for us and how can each and every one of us get ready for this brave new world?
This workshop will talk about factors that are shaping the future of work, and how you can be FutureProof by preparing to ride the next wave of change.
LEARN TO EMBRACE CHANGE
Change is happening faster than ever, right across the globe: environmental pressures, population growth, massive advancements in technology, and significant shifts in the demographic of the workforce to name just a few.
LEARN ABOUT NEW BUSINESS MODELS
The workshop will help you better understand the nature of global business trends like “the sharing economy”, crowdsourcing entire workforces and more. It will provide you with names, urls and addresses that will help you better understand and research these new dynamics.
LEARN ABOUT NEW TECHNOLOGIES
The workshop will also explore new technologies like BIG DATA and Artificial Intelligence with you to help you understand how they are shaping the Future of Work.
LEARN ABOUT LIFE LONG LEARNING
Everybody talks about 21st century skills – what are those and why are they important? How can I build my own skills and educate myself online? Which are the best websites and how do I get started?
This workshop will walk with the participants through a set of learning scenarios to provide folks with the ability to find the best way to enhance their skills.
You will work in small groups on real life examples and you will receive a handout that helps you to apply your learnings after the workshop.

Apple’s co-founder Steve Jobs once said, “I think everybody in this country should learn how to program a computer because it teaches you how to think.” Many folks would agree that coding helps you to think logically, become more efficient and to make better decisions.
LEARN WHY CODING IS IMPORTANT
Now that software is eating the world by automating all kinds of routine jobs, the basic knowledge of how lines of code create the digital worlds we explore every day is becoming a fundamental digital literacy
This workshop will provide you with a teaser – it will give you an idea about coding and hopefully will inspire you to learn more afterwards.
LEARN HOW TO PROGRAM A SIMPLE APPLICATION
You will program a small fun application – using the programming language Python. The exercise will illustrate to the participants that it is relatively easy to get started with programming and fun to create simple apps that improve your current processes.
LEARN WHAT TO DO NEXT
You will receive a detailed handout with more exercises so you can practice what you have learned in the workshop. You will also receive very valuable information how to continue your journey if you decide to learn more about coding.
You will work in small groups on these exercises – so come and join the fun!
