Some excerpts from Executive Directors Report at the 2015 AGMWe value our partnership with our neighbours the BC Forest Discovery Centre The Cowichan Regional VisitorCentre has certainly benefited from additional exposure during their special events The Visitor Centre has in turnreferred in excess of 5000 visitors this past year to the BCFDC many who may not otherwise have known to includethe BCFDC in their Cowichan itineraryDuncan remains one of the key attractions for our visitors Year to date we have referred over 10000 visitors todowntown Duncan to the totem tours and First Nations attractionsThis is a key role for the Visitor Centre ‐ to ensure visitors spend more time in the Cowichan We have obviouslybeen successful as year to date our team of staff and volunteers have serviced almost 20000 visitors up 11 fromlast year and up over 120 from our old location We expect to finish the year servicing over 21000 visitorsIf you like stats here are some more We received 28 buses to the Visitor Centre this year compared to 5 busesyrin our old location ‐ a testament to a more accessible entrance and parking lot 72 of our visitors are from Canada 15 of our visitors originate in Europe ‐ showing that Vancouver Island is a strong tourism brand for the Europeans 27 of visitors are spending 1 ‐ 3 nights in our community 10 are staying more than 1 week in the CowichanValley 25 of requests are for maps ‐ demonstrating that visitors want a personal connection to an area and noteveryone is using a GPS Ipad or electronic device to hike our trails and explore our attractions and communities

Some excerpts from Executive Directors Report at the 2015 AGMWe value our partnership with our neighbours the BC Forest Discovery Centre The Cowichan Regional VisitorCentre has certainly benefited from additional exposure during their special events The Visitor Centre has in turnreferred in excess of 5000 visitors this past year to the BCFDC many who may not otherwise have known to includethe BCFDC in their Cowichan itineraryDuncan remains one of the key attractions for our visitors Year to date we have referred over 10000 visitors todowntown Duncan to the totem tours and First Nations attractionsThis is a key role for the Visitor Centre ‐ to ensure visitors spend more time in the Cowichan We have obviouslybeen successful as year to date our team of staff and volunteers have serviced almost 20000 visitors up 11 fromlast year and up over 120 from our old location We expect to finish the year servicing over 21000 visitorsIf you like stats here are some more We received 28 buses to the Visitor Centre this year compared to 5 busesyrin our old location ‐ a testament to a more accessible entrance and parking lot 72 of our visitors are from Canada 15 of our visitors originate in Europe ‐ showing that Vancouver Island is a strong tourism brand for the Europeans 27 of visitors are spending 1 ‐ 3 nights in our community 10 are staying more than 1 week in the CowichanValley 25 of requests are for maps ‐ demonstrating that visitors want a personal connection to an area and noteveryone is using a GPS Ipad or electronic device to hike our trails and explore our attractions and communities
