d.i.y. bird feederCreate your very own bird

feeder this Earth Day!

Materials: pine cone, string,

peanut butter/Crisco, bird seeds,

spoon, and a plate

1. First you need to search for pine cones. The best place to fine

them is outside! However, if you do not live near lots of trees,

any craft store will provide them.

2. Next, wrap the string around the top part of the pine cone and

tie it so it forms a loop. That way it can easily hang from any

tree branch.

3. Using your spoon, coat your pine cone in a layer of peanut

butter (if you are allergic to peanut butter, Crisco can be

used instead).

4. Place all of your bird seeds onto the plate and then roll

your pine cone in the bird seeds. Make sure the whole thing

is covered!

5. Now hang your finished pine cone! Be sure to hang it out of

reach of squirrels. For example, a thin branch away from the

tree trunk.
