1. Mr. W. C. Cripps moved,
The Rev. S. J. W. Morgan seconded,
That Mr. Edward Hardy be elected Chairman of the Council.
Carried unanimously.
Mr. Hardy thereupon made before the Clerk of the Council a declarationof acceptance of office, and took the Chair.

ELECTION.
2. The election of thirteen Aldermen was then held. The election havingproceeded in accordance with the statutory requirements, the Chairman declaredthe under-mentioned persons to be elected County Aldermen, to hold office untilimmediately after the election of the new County Aldermen in the year 1943

That the Report of the Selection Committee of the 4th March 1937,altered in paragraph 2 by the following omissions therefrom andadditions thereto, and excepting the recommendations in 'paragraph2 (b) (i), which relates to the constitution of the Finance Committee ;paragraph 4, which relates to References and Delegations ; andparagraph 6, which relates to the Standing Joint Committee ; beadopted, and that, as so altered and excepting as aforesaid, the recom-mendations therein contained be carried into effect :-
