The State Infrastructure Report Card programreleased five reports in 2015. Two of the state reports, Iowa
and Utah, came on the heels of the state passing transportation
legislation. This continues a trend, as 12 of the 15 states that took significant action on
infrastructure have a recent state Report Card.

AEI Student Design Competition
encourages students to compete in collaborative, cross discipline teams, and present their designs to a panel of judges. This offers
the students real world experience that might not be possible in a
classroom setting.
989 Students and Younger Members
attended an Annual Multi-Regional Leadership Conference in 2015,
which provides a venue for upcoming ASCE leaders to develop
leadership skills and engage in networking opportunities.
The SEI Futures Fund, in 2015, supported key strategic initiatives including the new SEI
Global Activities Division to monitor global challenges and opportunities,
and promoting student interest in structural engineering.

ASCE’s Government Relations
released the #GameChangers report in July 2015 to highlight
the innovative ways communities across the country are modernizing
infrastructure. The report highlights trends in energy, freight,

Daene McKinney, Ph.D., P.E., D.WRE,
M.ASCE led a research team
on a two-month mission to study potential new threats
to Nepal’s mountain villages following the devastating
7.8-magnitude earthquake in April 2015. The Disaster Response Fund allows civil engineers to reach out and help people solve problems and prevent future issues
following disasters.Dream Big is an initiative,
anchored by a giant screen film, that will develop and implement
activities designed to bring together engineers, educators, parents, and students to create a positive learning environment
where future engineers can thrive. Thanks to the generous support of the Bechtel Corporation, Dream
Big has entered production and is one step closer to hitting the big
screen!
Envision™is a sustainable infrastructure
rating system, that utilizes a comprehensive analysis framework incorporating
60 different criteria for use across many different types of infrastructure, reached 2,700 credentialed professionals and 350 projects using the system.
The National Concrete Canoe Competition
teaches real world engineering, teamwork, and leadership skills
that are vital to students long term success as practicing civil engineers.
The 2015 competition, hosted by Clemson University, engaged

The Engineering Encounters Bridge
Design Contest provides middle and high school students with a realistic, engaging
introduction to engineering. In 2015, more than 8,000 teams competed in qualifying rounds with more than 16,500 bridges
designed.
2015 saw the addition of seven new Civil Engineering
Clubs, a 53% increase in growth in one year. Participants are high school students meeting with engineer mentors and exploring civil engineering through activities, lessons, and field trips.

Raise the Bar successfully encouraged NCEES to include increased educational requirements for licensure in their Position Statement. This milestone moves forward the conversation
of higher licensure requirements in universities and colleges.

The Educational Grant to the 2015
Convention in New York City helped
ASCE to offer interdisciplinary education, inspiring and
enlightening keynote speakers, tours, short courses and networking opportunities to over 900 members in

Support for Diversity Programs
allowed passage of a resolution to posthumously advance Nora Stanton
Blatch Barney to the ASCE Fellow grade who was honored at the
2015 Annual Convention. Barney was the first woman to earn a civil
engineering degree in 1905, paving the way for women to enter and succeed in engineering fields.

ExCEEd Teaching Workshop,
since 1999, has had 789 educators take part
representing about 1/3rd of all civil engineering professors.Attendees learn teaching skills necessary for shaping strong civil engineering graduates.

The 2015 National Student Steel Bridge Design Competition
brought together over 50 engineering schools to
compete at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Students were excited to show the world
what they can do, and were not deterred by failure, proving
a lesson learned through experience is best.

The State Infrastructure Report Card programreleased five reports in 2015. Two of the state reports, Iowa
and Utah, came on the heels of the state passing transportation
legislation. This continues a trend, as 12 of the 15 states that took significant action on
infrastructure have a recent state Report Card.

Blatch Barney to the ASCE Fellow grade who was honored at the
2015 Annual Convention. Barney was the first woman to earn a civil
engineering degree in 1905, paving the way for women to enter and succeed in engineering fields.

AEI Student Design Competition

Convention in New York City helped

to Nepal’s mountain villages following the devastating
7.8-magnitude earthquake in April 2015. The Disaster Response Fund allows civil engineers to reach out and help people solve problems and prevent future issues

Envision™is a sustainable infrastructure
rating system, that utilizes a comprehensive analysis framework incorporating
60 different criteria for use across many different types of infrastructure, reached 2,700 credentialed professionals and 350 projects using the system.
The National Concrete Canoe Competition
teaches real world engineering, teamwork, and leadership skills
that are vital to students long term success as practicing civil engineers.
The 2015 competition, hosted by Clemson University, engaged

The Engineering Encounters Bridge
Design Contest provides middle and high school students with a realistic, engaging
introduction to engineering. In 2015, more than 8,000 teams competed in qualifying rounds with more than 16,500 bridges
designed.
2015 saw the addition of seven new Civil Engineering
Clubs, a 53% increase in growth in one year. Participants are high school students meeting with engineer mentors and exploring civil engineering through activities, lessons, and field trips.

The 2015 National Student Steel Bridge Design Competition
brought together over 50 engineering schools to
compete at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Students were excited to show the world
what they can do, and were not deterred by failure, proving
a lesson learned through experience is best.
