con·sens·us the art of possible agreement
con·sens·us
re-balances art and daily life with interventions in public spaces. Its central idea is to find acceptable states of sensory-based agreement. The performers create collaborative live-dance events that move between pedestrian action and out-and-about theatre. With each performance the present situation is used to compose the event in interaction with everyone & everything present in the specific space. Every series of interventions is centered around a specific theme or idea of the initiator: a specific research question, strategies, vocabulary, objects etc. This theme is formulated beforehand and adapted during realization.

The project was started by Eva Tremel and Thomas Körtvélyessy in 2002 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Since then it has been performed internationally with an ever growing network of participating artists and related projects. Realisations have taken place in Rotterdam (NL), Düsseldorf (D), Arnhem (NL), Budapest (HU), and New York City (USA) Many events explored 'forgotten' spaces or those ignored by mainstream attention, such as a shopping center, a migrant-neighbourhood, work and traffic areas etc.
