Constellation & Co. is a letterpress stationery company and retail shop in Seattle, Washington. We design and print our line of letterpress stationery one at a time in our storefront location. We love inviting the local community in to see the beautiful process of letterpress printing firsthand!
Constellation & Co. is owned by me, Sara McNally, and my husband Brad. I write, design and print our line of greeting cards. I also manage the day-to-day business operations and am mom to the cutest printshop baby in the world, Micah. I am assisted by Brooke, a fellow letterpress printer, and an incredible staff of part-time helpers who assist with packaging, fulfillment, bookkeeping, and working in the retail shop. Brad and I met in design school in Florida. We moved to Seattle and got married in 2009. I apprenticed for a year with a local letterpress printer to add letterpress printing to my skills as a graphic designer. Constellation & Co. got its first press and studio location in January 2011 in historic Pioneer Square. We moved into our storefront in the Seattle Fishermen’s Terminal in September 2014. We love our neighborhood of Magnolia, and are honored to be a part of the community here.
Every day I open the studio, tie my apron, and get to work. The studio is a special space—it is the fruition of a lot of dreams and hopes and hard work. It’s a place that feels like home. It’s a place infused with heritage. Our storefront studio and retail space is in the Seattle Fisherman’s Terminal, a historic spot that recently celebrated its 100th birthday. I love the wall of windows in our space, inviting people and sunlight in. I love smelling fresh ocean air. But what I love most are the possibilities that this place holds. This is where I do what I love—and every day here is a blessing. We take this blessing seriously. Our work is truly a manifestation of our philosophy: to use ink and paper to connect people.
Our equipment is time-tested and well-worn, but we have restored everything with love—from rust and grime back to pristine printing condition. All of our presses are foot or hand powered and completely hand fed. Each sheet of paper goes through the press one at a time, and once through for each color printed. Same goes for type setting and image making. We use traditional wood and lead type and carefully hand set one letter at a time. Many of our pieces feature one of my hand-carved wood engravings. To say this is a labor of love is an understatement—but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Letterpress printed white A7 card, accompanied by a kraft envelope. One 3” x 3” embroidered iron-on patch included with each card. Patch is attached to the card with removable glue. Directions for ironing on the patch are included on the back of each card.

wholesale termsTo qualify for wholesale pricing, orders must be placed by a physical or online retailer. Retail orders may be placed on Etsy, or with one of our amazing retailers! Please visit our website for a list of our stores near you.
to place an orderOnline orders may be placed via Etsy Wholesale. If you are not currently an Etsy Wholesale member, e-mail us ([email protected]) for an invitation link to view and order our products. Orders may also be placed by e-mail or over the phone.
minimumsMinimum order of $100. Minimum quantity for greeting cards is 6 of each design. Minimum quantity for boxed sets, prints and notebooks/sketchbooks is 3. Please see our linesheet/order form for pricing informa-tion. We accept check, credit card and Paypal payments. We keep our minimums low to accommodate small boutiques, however we do not accept consignment orders.
opening orders & credit accountsAll opening orders must be submitted with a method of payment and a current copy of your Resale Certificate or other tax exempt paperwork. Your credit card will be charged or check cashed once your order has been shipped. Credit accounts are available pending credit approval. E-mail us for a copy of our credit application. Credit details: Net 15 days from date shipped. Past due accounts (over 30 days) will incur a service charge of 1.5% per month. Past due accounts may not place a new orders until their balance has been paid in full.
shippingWe ship wholesale orders via USPS Priority, UPS or Fedex (depending on what is cheapest and fastest). We are happy to customize your shipping options (rush shipping, local pick-up, etc.), but please let us know at the time of your order. Shipping cost will be assessed and added to your invoice by package size/weight. Most orders ship within 7 days, but larger orders may be subject to production time of 2-3 weeks. If your order will take longer than 7 days, we will contact you with an estimated delivery date. Show orders will be filled within 4-6 weeks.
returns/refundsIf items arrive defective or damaged, please contact us within 7 days. All defective items must be returned to us for a refund or exchange. Once we’ve heard from you, we’ll send you a pre-paid shipping label to return the item at our cost. When you return the damaged item(s), let us know if you would like a replacement item, a credit on your account for a future purchase, or a full refund for the purchase price of the item(s).

printingAll of our products are letterpress printed by hand on our Chandler & Price platen press or our gorgeous20th Century Reliance iron handpress. Due to the handmade nature of this printing process, slight variations in ink coverage are to be expected and are part of why we all love letterpress!
earth friendly practicesBoth of our production presses are “human powered,” and operated by hand or foot. If we collected enough candles, we could do a full day of printing without using electricity at all! Our clear sleeves are a sustain-able, eco-friendly product. They’re made from plants and are certified compostable by the Biodegradable Products Institute. Our cards and envelopes are primarily sourced from Waste Not Paper. Their paper comes from mills that practice responsible, sustainable forestry as certified by objective 3rd parties. Many of their products are created using renewable energy sources, such as hydro power or wind power. Both cards and envelopes are produced without elemental chlorine (PCF), and have recycled content containing at least 30% post-consumer waste. Several of our products are printed on “chipboard,” a 100% post-consumer waste reclaimed paper stock. We clean our presses with reduced volatile organic compound (VOC) emission solvents and recycle our ink waste as much as possible. We also re-use or recycle all of our scrap paper, office paper, and shipping supplies.
collaborationsWe strongly believe that the best part of owning a business is the opportunities it creates to work with other creative people! We love to collaborate with fellow small businesses to create products, experiences and relationships! Our collaborations with Seattle Seed Co. and Treehouse Point have produced beautiful products that neither business could create alone.
