Communication can be achieved by both wired and wireless technologies. At present communication system has its growth in Mobile technology GSM and CDMA technologies. GSM systems have been developed over the last decade to allow cellular communications systems to move beyond the limitations posed by the older analog systems. GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) is a digital mobile telephone system that is widely used in Europe and other parts of the world. GSM uses a variation of time division multiple access (TDMA) and is the most widely used of the th ree digital wireless telephone technologies (TDMA, GSM, and CDMA). GSM digitizes and compresses data, then sends it down a channel with two other streams of user data, each in its own time slot. It operates at either the 900 MHz or 1800 MHz frequency band. GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) Mobile service provides the user to receive a call, to call for the people at remote end, send SMS to remote areas just by using GSM-SMS commands and Embedded systems [8051 family micro controller based]. This device can be used to receive a call and to call as many people as possible. GSM Mobile Interface can call to remote areas and can receive a call from remote areas. GSM users can send and receive data, at rates up to 9600 bps. Mobile phones with a touch screen replacing traditional keypads have been introduced to the market. Few studies, however, have been conducted on the touch interface design for a mobile phone. This study investigated the effects of touch key sizes and locations on the one-handed thumb input that is popular in mobile phone interactions . GSM finds its application in Mobile communication to work on display boards, Data uploading at remote areas. This can make the Mobile service more powerful and in future achievement can be seen in various languages depending on requirement, which helps us in communicating.

CONSTRUCTION OF AVR MICROCONTROLLER BASED

TOUCH SCREEN MOBILE PHONE 

ABSTRACT:

GSM together with other technologies is part of an evolution of wireless

mobile telecommunication. Communication can be achieved by both wired and wirelesstechnologies. At present communication system has its growth in Mobile technology

Description of various blocks in block diagram:

Power Supply Unit:

Power supply unit is used to provide a constant 5Volts, 1.5Amp supply to

different ICs. This is a standard circuit using external 12V DC adopter and fixed 3-pin

voltage regulator.

AVR Microcontroller:

The ATmega32 is a low-power CMOS 8-bit microcontroller based on the AVR

enhanced RISC architecture. By executing powerful instructions in a single clock cycle,

the ATmega32 achieves throughputs approaching 1 MIPS per MHz (max. 16MHz)

allowing the system designer to optimize power consumption versus processing speed,

Which provides features like 32K bytes of In-System Programmable Flash Program

memory with Read-While-Write capabilities, 1024 bytes EEPROM, 2K byte SRAM, 32

general purpose I/O lines, 32 general purpose working registers, a JTAG interface forBoundary-scan, On-chip Debugging support and programming, three flexible

Timer/Counters with compare modes, Internal and External Interrupts, a serial

programmable USART, a byte oriented Two-wire Serial Interface, an 8-channel, 10-bit

ADC with optional differential input stage with programmable gain, a programmableWatchdog Timer with Internal Oscillator, an SPI serial port, and six software selectable

power saving modes.

LCD display unit(PCD8544)

Generation of LCD supply voltage (external supply The PCD8544 is a low power

CMOS LCD controller/driver, designed to drive a graphic display of 48 rows and84

columns. All necessary functions for the display are provided in a single chip, including

on-chip generation of LCD supply and bias voltages, resulting in a minimum of external

components and low power consumption.

Touch Screen:

A touch screen is a display that can detect the presence and location of a touchwithin the display area. The term generally refers to touch or contact to the display of the

device by a finger. Touch screens can also sense other passive objects, such as a stylus.

However, if the object sensed is active, as with a light pen, the term touch screen is

generally not applicable. The ability to interact directly with a display typically indicates

the presence of a touch screen.

The touch screen has two main attributes. First, it enables one to interact with

what is displayed directly on the screen, where it is displayed, rather than indirectly with

a mouse or touchpad. Secondly, it lets one do so without requiring any intermediate

device, again, such as a stylus that needs to be held in the hand. Such displays can be

attached to computers or, as terminals, to networks. They also play a prominent role in

the design of digital appliances such as the personal digital assistant (PDA), satellite

navigation devices, mobile phones, and video games.
