Inaugural Ceremony of Apparel Textile Sourcing Show and the Indian Pavilion at the Show

Consul General Mr. Dinesh Bhatia inaugurated the Apparel Textile Sourcing Show along with diplomatic representatives of other major exporting countries to Canada on 20 August 2018. He also inaugurated the India Pavilion at the Show and welcomed unprecedented 45 Indian exporters to Toronto & to the exhibition. He emphasized on the beautiful colors from India and appreciated the efforts of FICCI and AEPC for organising the India Pavilion, which will further boost the textile trade between India and Canada.

Mr. Ajay Sharma, Vice Consul (Consular & Passport) attended the Orientation Ceremony for welcoming Indian students under the Ontario India Exchange Program (OIN) organized by Ontario Universities International on August 20, 2018. He addressed the gathering and He briefed them about various the consular services, which could be of help to the students in situations of distress. He also talked about the MADAD portal, an initiative for international students by the Ministry of External Affiars, Govt. of India. It enables online logging and tracking of grievances, and submission of course/contact details of students.

Consul General Mr. Dinesh Bhatia felicitated Prof Ratnakar Narale at the Consulate on August 23, 2018. Prof Narale is the only recipient from North America of prestigious Vishwa Hindi Samman 2018 and was honoured in Mauritius earlier this week by Ms. Sushma Swaraj, hon'ble External Affairs Minister of India for his significant contribution to promotion of Hindi in Toronto.

Orientation Ceremony for Indian students

Visit of External Affairs Minister to Vietnam and Cambodia

External Affairs Minister, Smt. Sushma Swaraj, is on an official visit to Vietnam and Cambodia from 27-30 August 2018. In Vietnam (27-28 August), she will co-chair the 16th meeting of the Joint Commission along with her counterpart, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Pham Binh Minh. She will also call on Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc. On 27th August, EAM inaugurated the 3rd edition of the Indian Ocean Conference. In Cambodia (29-30 August), she will have a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Prak Sokhonn, Senior Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia and call on Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Hun Sen and President of Senate H.E. Mr. Say Chhum. This will be EAM’s first official visit to Cambodia. The visit of EAM to Vietnam and Cambodia will provide an opportunity to hold in-depth discussions with the political leadership on a wide range of global, regional and bilateral issues and advance our strategic engagement with these countries and ASEAN region.

Know Your India Programme

Know India Programme (KIP) of the Ministry of External Affairs is a three-week orientation programme for diaspora youth conducted with a view to promote awareness on different facets of life in India and the progress made by the country in various fields e.g. economic, industrial, education, science & technology, communication & information Technology, culture. KIP has now announced its 47th - 52nd editions with the partnering states of Tamil Nadu, Manipur & Mizoram, Karnataka, Gujarat, Bihar & Jharkhand and Daman & Diu and Maharashtra. Participants of 49th to 52th KIP will also have the opportunity to participate in PBD Convention, 2019, Kumbh Snan (The Holy Ganges Bath) and the Republic Day Parade in January 2019.
