Limited functionality in EWM standard for stock blocking

EWM already provides some functionality for stock blocking, but it lacks some

features which are important to several industries.

In Standard EWM ...

Stock can only be blocked manually

Expired Stock (shelf life) can not be blocked automatically in the background

No Integration to SAP ECC Quality Management Notifications

EWM does not allow to enter or display a reason for blocking

Inspection documents have to be created manually per HU, which leads in SAP ECC to

one Quality Inspection Lot per HU!

No simple tracking who has blocked the stock, for how long was it blocked and who

unblocked the stock

No guidance with possible follow-on functions, such as „Release stock“, „Correct

Expiration Date“ or „Scrap Stock“

Functionality of this Consulting Solution

The Consulting Solution „Stock Blocking with SAP-ECC QM Integration“ provides

the following enhanced functionality:

Mass-blocking of stock with a comfortable transaction, for example blocking based on

Shelf Life Expiration Date, on GR Date, on Product or on Storage Section

Expired Stock (shelf life) can be blocked automatically in the background

Full Integration to QM (Quality Notifications and Inspection lots)

Quality Notification and Inspection Lot Summary (only one document for multiple stocks of

same product / batch combination)

Inspection documents are created in the background (use of EWM Quality Inspection

Engine)

Simple tracking and full visibility about the blocked stock

Guidance with possible follow-on functions, such as „Release stock“, „Correct Expiration

Date“ or „Scrap Stock“ via the Quality Notification

Simple handling and safe processing to ensure stock gets block at right time!

Stock Blocking with SAP ECC Quality Notifications

The use of ECC Quality Notifications for blocking and unblocking stock has several

huge advantages compared to an EWM-internal blocking:

Quality Notification is a Standard functionality in SAP ECC for quality issues

Highly customizable framework

Several standard follow-on actions are already available in QM standard

Communication with partners (e.g. Supplier) possible

Workflow connection possible (e.g. for approvals)

Many SAP customers have Quality Notifications already in use -> No process change with

EWM

... and much more!
