The engine centre supports the Rolls Royce T56 A14 and A15 and the Rolls Royce 501D-13. Our specialist equipment includes an outdoor engine test stand and a reduction gear box (RGB) test stand. The RGB test stand allows the gearboxes to be functionally checked prior to engine installation. All services are performed according to the latest Rolls Royce instructions by specialised and Rolls Royce-trained Airbus engine technicians.

Airbus in Blenheim is one of the few remaining facilities in the world with the Pratt and Whitney J52 capability. Our highly specialised operation maintains a full overhaul and hot section inspection capability for the J52, P8 and P408

variants of the Pratt and Whitney engine. Airbus’ current work in this area includes services for military and civil operators of J52-engined aircraft.

Airbus’ range of components supported includes fuel controls, fuel pumps, TD valves, oil coolers and fuel nozzles. Our comprehensive level of support also encompasses services for a range of other engine related components and accessories for these engine types. Ninety percent of Airbus’ Australia Pacific engine specialist processes are completed on-site, eliminating the need for time-consuming and costly sub-contracting of products or parts.

Airbus’ Propulsion Centre is one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. It is fully equipped with sophisticated technology to provide a superior standard of propeller servicing - and all on-site. This includes our electroplating facility, NDT service, machine shop, paint booth, composite repair shop, balance rooms and test rig room. We also offer shot peening and cold rolling services. Additionally, Airbus offers blade anodising for long term corrosion protection specifically for the harsh New Zealand environment.

The propeller department can maintain, repair and overhaul a wide range of composite and metal propellers and their components including spinners, actuators and sub-assemblies both when they arrive with their associated engines, and as individual components.

The company also provides a fast and efficient service to repair and overhaul all types of metal and composite propellers in Australia and is the only Hamilton Sundstrand-approved facility in the country. Airbus in Melbourne is fully equipped including non-destructive and hydromatic testing.

Airbus’ Propulsion Centre is one of a limited number of Hartzell recommended service facilities around the world. Our technicians are trained and audited by Hartzell to ensure they can perform a wide range of services to the latest standards. Those services include complete overhauls of both metal and composite propellers, hubs and blades. That includes anodising and cadmium plating, specialist paint work using factory mandated paints, blade grinding and dimensional inspections, shot peening and replacement of rubber de-ice boots. Airbus holds a Hartzell approval for shot peening using our robotic CNC shot peening equipment. We also perform static balancing on all propellers and dynamic balancing for fly-in customers.

Airbus in Australia Pacific is also proud to offer Hartzell new sales and after-market sales at competitive prices.

As part of Airbus’ long-standing relationship with a number of military customers, we provide support for the Royal New Zealand Air Force Seasprite rotor blades. Airbus’ experienced engineers perform comprehensive services including the removal and installation of rotor blades and rectification to the main rotor blades. Our on-site capabilities include static balance, composite repairs to the blade skins and internal rigging inspection and repairs.

Our McCauley trained technicians are able to perform a wide range of services to the latest standards required on metal McCauley propellers. We also offer anodising and cadmium plating, specialist paint work using factory recommended paints, blade grinding and dimensional inspections, static and dynamic balancing, shot peening and replacement of rubber de-ice boots.

Airbus features after-market sales capability for McCauley propeller products, at competitive prices.

Airbus offers the only Hamilton Sundstrand-authorised facilities in Australasia. Our capabilities for civil Hamilton Sundstrand propellers include 14RF, 14SF and 568F. Our military capability centres on overhaul and repair the complete 54H60 propeller including control assemblies and spinners.
