Tn€! ffTreasure Trail" group of 31 olairr.L~ lies ill the foothills of the Santa Rita mountains. in the eastern part ot the Helvetia Mining Distriot p forty miles southeast of Tuoson and twelve miles south of the Southern Paoifio Ita11road. The ss clailns sxtent} from e high 11.mestone hill north"", east tor about two miles. In the limestone It on the "Sw'eet Bye and Bye" olalru~ there are 1rreguler seams of carbonate ora. Cone1dereble ora has been mined trom irregu.lar workj.nga in the limestone. There do not S6}ern to be large orebod1as.

North of the limestone, most of the pr,operty :is covered with surface vlash and gravel. ·The outcro.ps of solid material show rhyolite and andesite leva, generally amygda­loj.dal. In a zone 6ev(~ral hundr<~ d feet wide, extending the length of· the group from northeast to southwest, the leva is thorough.ly crushed and :tron-st·e1ned,. · Shallow cut s and tunnels show leaOhed, tron-stainad, lava:, with occasiona.l stains and bunohes ot oopper carbonates. There ere a tew narrow veins carrying eopper .carbonate , with some gold and silver.

Several of the ttmnels and small shafts reaoh the sUl­phide zona. Hera the lava is extam.ely hard, with pyrite filling the amygEialo1d.f;!1 cevi ties. Sometimes there is a little chalco­pyrite and bornite in the oavttiea and on sea.rns.While good assays ~ould be obtained from pieked samples, the material !.lea whole 1$ very low grades

While this is a very unusual and intf:)l-esting occurrence, I do not believe there is oopper enough in the lava to for.m cwmner­cial ore.
