H E R I TA G E & H I S T O R Y
Chris-Craft is a truly American story. Born
in 1874, it came of age at a time that
defined the notion of American ingenuity.
While Henry Ford was creating the first
motorcars, his watercraft counterpart, Chris
Smith, was developing the very first engine-
propelled boats and skiffs. Even during
the Great Depression, Chris-Craft thrived
because quality is always prized. During the
Second World War, the company reinforced
its hold on the American imagination when
its landing craft transported the first troops
to the Normandy shore on D-Day. In more
ways than one, Chris-Craft would become
a symbol of liberation and freedom. In 1959,
Time Magazine would recognize the popular
phenomenon of pleasure boating and put
Chris-Craft on its cover. Throughout its rich
history, a reputation for quality and style have
made it the favorite of presidents, celebrities
and icons of American affluence - names like
Roosevelt, Kennedy, Vanderbilt, Morgan, Ford,
Sinatra, and Hepburn.

A HERITAGE OF TIMELESS DESIGN.

WE BUILT OUR REPUTATION ON IT.
From the beginning, the founder of Chris-Craft, Christopher Columbus Smith, had a love a air with wood. He instinctively understood how to select and work with it to build the most magnificent boats that
graced the seas. His woodworking skills were so well respected that, at that time, lumber yards referred to the highest grades of wood as “Chris-Craft quality.”Today, Chris-Craft legendary boats continue to be designed, engineered and built to the same standards, using only the highest quality woods available.
We employ the most skilled carpenters, joiners, cabinetmakers and artisans – all of whom are experts in boat building. Many have been crafting our boats for decades. Their knowledge of teak, and other woods including mahogany, oak, maple, walnut, cherry and exotic woods, is unsurpassed in the industry.

WE HAVE A UNIQUE DESIGN LANGUAGE.
Exceptional design is more than something that looks good. It’s the way you interact with an object, too. Before you even step aboard, the very form of our boats will captivate and inspire you. The graceful curves and sharp edges blend seamlessly together to create an organic shape of undeniable beauty. And long, unbroken lines convey a sense of dynamic movement even when the boat is stationary. But it isn’t until you take a cruise, race the wind, and just sit back and take it all in, that you’ll truly appreciate the uncompromised design – and all of the subtle extras that make it uniquely Chris-Craft.
IT’S IN THE DETAILS.
Chris-Crafts epitomise classic lines and elegant touches that contribute to their beauty, as well as their overall form and function. Our iconic deep-V hull appears as if it’s sculpted from a solid block, and is engineered for extreme stability and dynamic performance in all conditions. Design details like bow and stern Chris-Craft logos set in steel, wood, and cleats with horns and air intake plates, all custom crafted and made to adorn our boats like crowning jewels enhance the overall look.

Uncompromising attention to every detail makes a Chris-Craft unique – both inside and out. We give careful attention to the overall design: the detailed process of painting each of our hulls, the contours of the seating, the finishes of surrounding woods and surfaces, the practicality and functionality of every element, and of course, the specific color combinations and textures. This exquisite attention to detail maintains – and matches – the personality of each boat, while ensuring the timeless beauty of a Chris-Craft for decades to come.

UPHOLSTERY
In crafting our interiors, every fine point matters: the alignment of seams, the matching of patterns, the spacing between rows of stitches, and the precision of our embroidered logo. Our exceptional design includes wide bolsters and beautiful diamond-pattern stitching throughout. We use heavy stainless steel bars to wrap many of our captain’s chairs, providing a solid grip and a beautiful detail that embraces the seat just as the seat embraces the driver.
