The Super Series is a tournament structure optimised for national and international events. We've crafted the game we love into the most dynamic, tactically challenging and skill-based tournament format that's also an exciting experience to watch.

A Super Series event is a single-elimination tournament for teams of 4 players competing to be the best in the region or country. The whole process will be livestreamed. The format of the event is as follows.

A team of 4 players with armies from different factions will play 3 rounds on one day against another team of 4. The winners go onto the next stage, and the losers are knocked out of the competition.

Each round consists of 4 games, with all team members playing an opponent from the other team. Which opposing team members play each other will be determined before each round with our card matchup system. The teams play a total of 3 rounds and the team with the highest overall score will progress to the next stage.

The teams will be matched up in a draw ahead of time organised by the regional Super Series partner - in this case the England Partner.

The winner of the Super Series will be the team that is undefeated after all the stages have been completed.

01. PrizesThe prize for winning the tournament will not only be some awesome trophies and all the internet prestige but also 100% of the entry fee accumulated from all the teams.

02. Army SelectionThis will be a Single List 2000 points tournament and will follow the restrictions in the General’s Handbook 2020 Matched play section.

No Warscrolls can be taken from a book that hasnt had its post-release FAQ and/or 4 weeks has elapsed from the release date of that book. Compendium Warscrolls will not be used.

No two armies on the same team may have a duplicate Warscroll, nor a duplicate Allegiance, nor any duplicate Artefacts. This includes Endless Spells.

Summoned units are not subject to duplication restrictions.

Allegiance abilities, Spells, Command traits, Artefacts and 6 Auxiliary Objectives must be listed on your Army List and do not change on a game-by-game basis.

Realm Artefacts, Realm effects and spells shall not be used. White Dwarf publications are not to be used.

Each player must play their own list for all games.

03. BattleplansThere will be three different Battleplans played on the day. These will vary STAGE-TO-STAGE. They will be announced after list submission, but before matchday, so teams can best strategise.

04. The Ban PhaseThe Ban Phase will happen on the Monday preceding the matchday on the Saturday. The Ban Phase consists of each team banning 5 units from being eligible to be chosen at army list submission, for a total of 10 that apply to each team.

Ban Phase Order:

• Team A - Ban unit 1

• Team B - Ban units 2 & 3

• Team A - Ban units 4 & 5

• Team B - Ban units 6 & 7

• Team A - Ban units 8 & 9

• Team B - Ban unit 10

Teams A & B are determined before Stage 1 via a draw by the TO. After Stage 1 the team with the highest uncapped score is Team A for the next matchup.

Ban Phase Rules

Once a faction has a unit banned from it no other unit may be banned from that faction.

E.g. Team A chooses to ban the Bastiladon warscroll. No one can choose them at army selection and Seraphon can have no more units be banned from either team. Please look at the Ban Phase Additional Information for other clarifications and examples.

No battleline units may be banned, but battleline if units can be banned.

E.g. you cannot ban Bloodletters from a Blades of Khorne army, but you can ban Juggernauts of Khorne.

Battalions cannot be banned.

These bans are only in place and only affect the current matchup between those two teams.

Units that are summoned, or generated in any other way, are affected by the ban. The Warscroll is considered to not exist for the event.

Additional information and Notable Examples

Cities of SigmarBanning a unit from Stormcast, Sylvaneth, or Kharadron Overlords does not count as a ban against Cities of Sigmar for the purpose of preventing a second unit from being banned from the same faction. However, for the purpose of list building, that unit is banned for every faction.

E.g. if Team A bans a Lord-Celestant on Stardrake that means no other units from the Stormcast Eternals can be banned, but a unit from Cities of Sigmar can be. Effectively the rule is the home Battletome of a unit is the faction that receives the ban.

Wrath of the EverchosenLegions of Chaos Ascendant, Flamers of Tzeentch, Plague drones, Fiends of Slaanesh and Bloodcrushers may all be banned, as the home of those units is not the Legion of Chaos Ascendant Battletome.

Slaves to DarknessSlaves to Darkness units are banned from the Slaves to Darkness Battletome and not from any god marked books.

Other Notable RulesNagash and Arkhan are counted as “from” Legions of Nagash.

Legion of blood, Night, Sacrament and Grief are counted as subfactions. Belakor is “from” Slaves to Darkness Battletome.

Gaunt Summoner is “from” the Disciples of tzeentch Battletome.

Tzaangors, Skyfires and Enlightened are from Disciples of Tzeentch Battletome.

Forgeworld models are from associated Battletomes.

If you have any other questions then please ask the TO ahead of list submission.

05. List Submission Lists are submitted secretly to the TOs on Thursday 4pm BST and revealed Friday morning publicly by the tSports Network.

06. TeamsTeams consist of 4 players with 1 substitute for emergencies. This team cannot change members over the course of the Super Series, and must forfeit if unable to play.

Teams must have a coach, and it's the coach’s job to provide support and engage with the Super Series. It's also the coach's job to help the players in all manners of development leading up to the Super Series matches. A team can have a coaching team but there must be a head coach.

On the Coach

A Coach is allowed to:

1. Do/assist the Pairings Phase.

2. Collate and submit team results.

3. Ask questions about how the game is going (only in English, see below). Tell their player how their team is doing, and if they require a win/draw/loss from this game

A Coach is not allowed to: 1. Give Tactical advice (they may not tell their player ‘how’ to get that win/draw/loss!) or interject in any way on in-game situations like forgetting that their player forgot to pile-in. If they perceive situations like that, especially in the case where players must do something but forget to, they can call for the game to be stopped, and then get a judge to rectify the situation.

2. Speak to their players in their native language (if that language is not English). Speaking to their team members in the English language is allowed as it is the tournament's official language (not talking in English will be seen as interference with the game and is subject to a yellow card infringement type if reported). This is so that judges and opposing players can be confident that the above rule is not being broken.

3. Once players are at their tables at the start of any given round, it is not allowed within a team to share info on matchups or tactics by means of cellphones or other devices either. Any breach of this rule that gets noticed will see all offenders on the team admonished with an immediate disqualification.

4. Be a player.

07. Game ScoringBattleplan Scoring: Major Win: 16 Victory Points

Minor Win: 10 Victory Points

Draw: 8 Victory Points

Minor Loss: 6 Victory Points

Major Loss: 0 Victory Points

Auxiliary Objectives:

Players pick 6 Auxiliary Objectives and note them on their army list. The team as a whole must select all 18 auxiliary objectives from GHB 2020 between the 4 team members.

Each round, each player must pick 2 Auxiliary Objectives they have not yet attempted to complete and will score Victory Points (VP) for the following:

+1 VP Scoring Objective 1

+1 VP Scoring Objective 2

+1 VP for Denying opponent's objective 1

+1 VP For Denying opponent's objective 2

08. Pairing PhaseEach team will be given four cards displaying the armies they have chosen to attend the event with. Team A & B is determined before gameday by the tournament organiser. Starting with Team A both players present a card facedown.

• Teams A & B present their first faction selection facedown. Both cards are then revealed simultaneously.

• Both teams must then select two cards as options to pair with their opponent’s first card, placing both facedown. These cards are revealed simultaneously.

• The opponents take turns to select one of the newly revealed cards to play against their own first selected card.

• Rejected cards at this point are then paired with the remaining card in their opponent’s hand.

Updated Rules for Pairings and Boards

To add variance and further strategy to the game and the matchup process we will have 4 types of terrain on the board:

1 heavy amount of terrain – see terrain guide

1 light amount of terrain – see terrain guide

2 medium amounts of terrain – see terrain guide

When the match up process begins, the first cards placed are classed as DEFENDERS. The 2 follow up cards are ATTACKERS. The card left in the hand is called the HOOK.

Round 1

Team A will defend the light terrain board

Team B will defend the heavy terrain board

Games 3 + 4 on the medium terrain boards

Round 2

Team B will defend the light terrain board

Team A will defend the heavy terrain board

Games 3 + 4 on the medium terrain boards

Round 3

The team trailing will get to defend either the heavy or light board with the other team getting either the light or heavy left over.

Games 3 + 4 on the medium terrain boards.

Pairing Phase Q&A

Question: Can the same players be paired to play the same players round by round?

A: Yes, if that's your pairing strategy and you can achieve it then that's fine. The point is to pair into matches and boards you want.

09. PaintingAll armies must be fully painted and based on suitable round bases. The minimum requirement is 3 colours in an appropriate scheme, with no undercoat or bare plastic showing through, with appropriate round/oval textured/painted bases. Anything not reaching this minimum standard will, at the organisers discretion, be removed from the table, and will count as destroyed. There is quite a long lead up to the tournament so there’s no real excuse not to conform to this norm.

10. Terrain4 boards of terrain will be provided and will be cinematically themed with a story. The volume of scenery will vary across the boards in a specific manner:

1 board will have light terrain

2 boards will have medium terrain

1 board will have heavy terrain

Scenery will be provided on each table. Players are requested not to bring their own terrain. The Scenery Table will be in effect, and will be pre rolled. Scenery will be laid out on tables in a standard pattern, with no table piece being within 3” of the table edge or another terrain piece laid out by Organisers.

No scenery piece can be set up within 1” of another, nor within 3” of the center of an objective on the table at the start of the battle.

Army-based Scenery Warscrolls such as Wlydwoods and 1mm Markers such as Grave Sites may not be placed within 1” of other scenery nor upon Objectives, though randomly determined Objectives may land on previously placed Scenery Warscrolls and 1mm Markers

11. Sportsmanship and ConductWe expect this event to run as smoothly and controversy free as other AoS tournaments. Please remember that people may take different approaches to gaming to your group, and all players will be expected to resolve rules disputes patiently and amicably. Please seek out an organiser if you cannot resolve a situation.

12. Table Etiquette, Time-Keeping and PenaltiesBefore each game, take a few minutes before each game to run through your list and warscrolls with your opponent. You needn’t divulge your game-winning tactics, but briefly summarise any abilities or Battalions if required to. Be mindful of the timing of games, with particular attention paid to getting through

the turns equally with your opponent. Dice rolls should be flat on the game mat, not cocked, nor on terrain, lists etc. Announcements will be made giving remaining time notifications. You should have copies of warscrolls in English to show to your opponent.

Matched play Battleplans are designed for 5 turns. Your list must therefore be reasonably designed and be expected to be able to complete 5 turns. Please bear in mind model count, summoning, long phases and rerolls when designing your list. If your list has these features please take steps to ensure speedy play – movement trays, flash cards, knowing your list, army selection if you know you’re slow.

Please avoid all problems by adhering to the commonly understood ‘Social Contract’ in AoS. You’re not daft - you all know what this means!

13. Updated RulesUpdated rule for determining sides at the start of the game

The game is started when both players roll a dice, the winner can choose and must declare who will start deploying their army first. The loser then gets to choose which side to deploy their army.

Updated Rules for 3d Space and Movement

For a more immersive and tactical game we are clarifying how units move around to avoid odd rulings:

• Terrain will be classed as impassable or not.

• Flying units can fly over terrain that's impassable but not land on it, nor on the side of it.

• Non flying units cannot move up or down impassable terrain, nor be resting on the side of it.

• Teleports are measured in a 2D space. Outside of 9” is measured in a 2D (top down) space and will always require a roll of 9” (or greater) before modifiers.

14. Terrain GuideTerrain is defined as either Game terrain or Scatter terrain.

Game Terrain

Terrain can be of any height up to 12”. The footprint of the 3 terrain sizes should be contained within these 3 sizes for area. They don't have to be square and represent the maximum for that size:

• Small = 4” x 4”

• Medium = 6” x 6”

• Large = 10” x 6”

Terrain types:

PassableModels could in theory pass across it and it not be unrealisticExamples - swamps, pits, rivers marshes etc.

ImpassableModels could not in theory pass over itExamples - Buildings, towers, mountains

Scatter Terrain

Purely aesthetic with no impact on the game in terms of dimensions but to bring more life to the space. Terrain 1” or lower won't be used in game to measure distances. E.g. fields, rivers, rocky outcrops.

Three Board Types

There are 3 levels of terrain density, each having a different amount of Game Terrain

• Light - 4 medium, 6 small• Medium - 2 large, 4 medium , 4 small• Heavy - 4 large, 4 medium, 2 small

Travel

We don't have any on-site parking but there are lots of local car parks and public transport directly to the venue via the park and ride tram.

Parking

There is a space across the road that is £5 for 12 hours which is really awesome for the city center.

Accommodation

If you want to book somewhere and would like some advice, just get in touch.

17. Covid-19 UpdateSo with Covid upon us we must also make sure we all work to help keep each other safe. If you are feeling unwell with any of the known Covid symptoms then please do not attend. Yours and others safety is more important to us than anything else. The same rule will be applied to the minimised staff required for the event.

There is plenty of space as the event takes part at a dedicated venue. So space between tables is maximised. Hand Sanitizer will be available and required to use when entering and leaving the space.

Don't touch each other's dice or equipment and masks are mandatory in accordance with current guidelines.

If you have any questions or suggestions on any of the safety measures, please do let us know.

Special thanks to: Mark Wilson, Tom Adriany, Charlie, and Owen for input. Thanks to the countless TOs who have

provided us with inspiration.

02

To become a player, form a team or series please visit - tsportsnetwork.com

04

To become a player, form a team or series please visit - tsportsnetwork.com

06

To become a player, form a team or series please visit - tsportsnetwork.com

To become a player, form a team or series please visit - tsportsnetwork.com

To become a player, form a team or series please visit - tsportsnetwork.com

To become a player, form a team or series please visit - tsportsnetwork.com

To become a player, form a team or series please visit - tsportsnetwork.com

To become a player, form a team or series please visit - tsportsnetwork.com
