Quanta & ELC Training

Preparing to use your ELC for resettlement or in-force development should not be underestimated.

When considering who to choose to help, you don’t just want a training company. You want

someone to assist you, inspire you, and help prepare you for possibly one of the biggest challenges

you’ll be likely to face.

We don’t see ourselves as a “training company” but rather an ELC Training Partner giving people the

best possible start to resettlement and preparing them for a successful future. We have been working

in the ELC marketplace for over 10 years now, so we like to think we have a good understanding of

resettlers’ needs! We help them gain internationally recognised qualifications; give them invaluable

practical guidance resulting from real life experience allowing them to actually use their new found

knowledge from day one.

We are an Approved Learning Provider under the Enhanced Learning Credits Scheme (Registration

No: 1201). ELCs are designed to provide Service personnel with a percentage of approved training

costs, for courses leading to a nationally recognised qualification.

As an Approved Learning Provider for the ELC Scheme, our primary aim is to provide the highest

quality resettlement and in-service training to ensure our clients make the most effective transition

possible to their new careers. As part of this we offer course bundles enabling people to gain both

nationally and internationally recognised training qualifications, such as PRINCE2®, ITIL®, APMP and

MSP®.

Quanta are proud to be members of the Corporate Covenant. We are committed to helping those who

we train not just during the course and their initial transition period but after that we want to help

people’s careers and businesses thrive.

Testimonials We pride ourselves in the quality of the service we offer both before, after and during the course,

but please don’t just take our word for it:

“ "I chose Quanta as a resettlement training provider because of their very competitive pricing and the ability to

bundle related courses together. When I arrived at the Quanta college to undertake the first course of the bundle, I

quickly realised that I had made the right choice. The welcome was warm and genuine, the administrative aspects

were quick and simple to complete, and the teaching was well focussed and professionally delivered. The broad mix

of students, civilian and Service, with varying experience levels, made for a relaxed and pleasant interactive

learning experience. Having personally managed projects and programmes for some years, it was extremely helpful

to me to hear of the challenges faced by project team members from other backgrounds. Hopefully, the same was

true in reverse! I can see that student weight gain could be an issue with tea, coffee, bottled water, toast, fresh

fruit, biscuits and sweets on-tap throughout the working day. Lunch is taken with course mates in an excellent

bistro around the corner from Quanta, giving the opportunity to discuss the morning’s teaching away from the

college. In my opinion, Quanta is truly the gold-standard of training providers and I certainly plan to use them

again in the future."

“ "I have just completed the PRINCE2 Foundation & Practitioner course where I had the good fortune to be taught by

Tim Finch. I have been an instructor for over 20 years and I am currently OC Training for the Special Forces Chinook

Sqn where I am responsible for all training conducted on the Wing. Consequently, I have a great deal of instructor

experience and, more importantly, I monitor my instructors very carefully to ensure they provide a consistent and

high quality performance so I know a good instructor when I see one and my standards are incredibly high.

This last week has been exceptionally demanding due mainly the amount of work required to achieve the end of

course standard; I'm knackered! But it would have been considerably more demanding where it not for the efforts

of Tim. He taught with an enthusiasm that was infectious and managed to make a particularly dry subject so

enjoyable. His subject knowledge bordered on encyclopaedic yet he had a level of empathy that enabled him to

deliver his point in an articulate and concise manner. He made time for every single course member and delivered

the subject in the most professional of standards. He's also a great guy and the only shame is that the workload

was such that we didn't get the chance to take him for a beer or 2 one evening.

I hope you don't mind me leaving this informal feedback. I know how important feedback is to your company and I

have to say that I have been utterly impressed with everything your company has done. But I feel that Tim needs a

special mention as I believe that he is a quality individual and an exceptional instructor and I just wanted you to be

aware of the views of a very happy customer."

Regional vs. Worcester Unsure of where you should take your course? Quanta offer a number of options to ensure that you

get the most out of your training experience with us.

Regional

Quanta hold courses throughout the UK, meaning that you do not have to travel too far in order to

experience the benefits that our courses offer. Reasons why you should consider Regional training

include:

Huge Cost Savings - you will not only enjoy cost savings on the course (potentially up to 60%)

but also save costs associated with travel and subsistence. Most locations have plenty of local

mess accommodation to help you keep your costs down

Hotel Environment – You will be able to learn and feel comfortable in the surroundings that

are sympathetic to the learning experience.

Open Discussions - Delegates will be free to discuss specific issues or problems they may be

facing, which they might normally be reluctant to in an open arena.

Worcester Training Centre

One of the reasons why service leavers keep coming back to Quanta is due to the overall Delegate

Experience that we offer at Worcester. You also get to benefit from the following:

Fantastic training facilities synonymous with learning - To get the most out of your training,

you need to be in a comfortable, relaxed environment. This is what we have provided for you

in the shape of our grade 2 listed facilities in the heart of Worcester.

Engage with civilians all over the UK – By coming to Worcester you will be given the

opportunity to liaise with civilian professionals from all sectors of industry. This is your chance

to begin networking and make the contacts that might land you your first job outside of the

service.

Small class sizes and own PC - You are an individual and should be treated as such. Training

in small numbers means that you get the individual attention you deserve. Where appropriate

you will have access to your own PC to ensure a hands-on learning experience.

ELC Course Bundling Our ELC bundles are designed to maximise the use of your credits!

We are one of a few companies who can offer you approved ELC bundles. This means we can offer you more than one course for your current allocation of Enhanced Learning Credits, allowing you to take full advantage of your allowance.

How Does It Work?

The ELC scheme entitles you to have 80% of your course paid for (up to a maximum of £1,000 or

£2,000 depending on length of service), which can be put towards a qualification of NQF Level 3 or

above. We focus our bundles specifically around the ELC entitlement, with the primary aim of reducing

cost and increasing knowledge for resettlers.

When using other providers people leaving the services are forced to use up their allocation on one

course alone, limiting the skill set of the individual whilst also resulting in a lot of wasted time

(resettlers are only able to make one claim per financial year).

Quanta bundles will allow you to:

Become qualified in at least one NQF level 3 or above qualification.

Increase your understanding of the subject area – some of our bundles offer as many as 5

courses within one financial year!

Save a significant sum of money – the individual contribution of our bundles averages around

£500. This represents huge cost efficiency, considering the sheer scale of tutor-led content

available.

Plan your qualifications in an order that aids the learning process, whilst also fitting in with

your requirements.

Make best use of all 3 claim entitlements, as we have a number of bundles in place which

follow on from previous years.

Benefit from an ELC team who are always at hand should any problems arise.

Make the best use of your ELC funding…

Can I make my own bundles?

Quite simply, yes you can! The bundles shown over the next few pages are split into 3 sections, and

are only an EXAMPLE of the bundles that we provide – we know that each person leaving the services

has their own individual needs, ambitions and wants.

You will still need to ensure there is an NQF level 3 or above qualification in your custom bundle but

that is where we can help you. So get in touch with our dedicated ELC team who will be more than

willing to discuss the different bundle options available – our range of over 100 courses gives you

plenty to choose from!

Project & Programme Management

You've worked in a team, but now you want to build on that experience and lead the way. Our Project

and Programme Management (PPM) courses allow resettlers to gain a unique and in-depth knowledge

base in how to keep control from day one, ensuring ultimate success for both individual and

company.

Here at Quanta we are able to offer a number of different PPM qualifications. All of these courses

cover different aspects of PPM, providing resettlers with the perfect opportunity to bundle up in order

to gain a significant understanding of the subject. The PPM courses that we offer are as follows:

PRINCE2 is an internationally recognised methodology, offering a recommended set of activities and templates to be used during a project. This can be from the early days of when an idea is established as something worth pursuing, right up until the final days of a project.

Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) is the de facto standard developed by the UK government for delivering change programmes in the UK. It allows delegates to understand the act of creating and managing multiple projects, enabling candidates to touch on the skills already developed in PRINCE2 and APMP.

APMP complements PRINCE2 well: it offers a set of techniques that describe how the work in a project is done (providing the detail for generic project management techniques that PRINCE2 mentions, but does not explicitly explain). APMP also covers what are regarded as the ‘softer’ elements of project management, such as communication, negotiation, conflict management and motivation.

Agile management or Agile project management is an iterative and incremental method of managing the design and build activities for engineering, information technology, and new product or service development projects in a highly flexible and interactive manner.

ITIL is the world’s most widely accepted approach to the management and delivery of IT Services. It has been developed in recognition of organisations' growing dependency on IT in order to satisfy their corporate aims and meet their business needs, and will allow service leavers to apply what they have learnt already to an IT environment.

Informed risk-taking helps to improve performance through innovative approaches for managing the business, service delivery and value for money. Our Management Of Risk course covers all of these areas, allowing delegates already skilled in PPM Management to gain a unique insight into improving project performance.

Our Principles of Change Management course builds on change management experience and focuses on the effects of change in four key areas, individual, team, organisation and change leaders. These are all undoubtedly areas liable to change during a Project, linking in with all of the above courses and providing a solid platform for clear best practice thinking.

Lean Six Sigma is a management approach to business performance improvement. Combines two proven philosophies: Lean (which focuses on speed, efficiency and removing waste from processes) and Six Sigma (which focuses on effectiveness and reducing variation). The Yellow Belt certification provides an ideal introduction into both of these approaches and how they complement and supplement one another.

Companies use Agile techniques to help meet this challenge successfully.

Benefits for you as an individual Understanding the different management style needed for successful agile projects compared to traditional projects will mean you can tailor your approach to different situations. Knowing how you can combine this knowledge with the more traditional management methodologies will allow you to adapt to a changing business environment.

Technical IT From Microsoft to Oracle, VMware to Linux, IT is a broad area, and one which Quanta excels. With

nearly 20 years’ experience in offering a vast range of different courses, we strive to keep up-to-date

with all the latest advancements in technology.

IT Qualifications

A combination of both experience and our diverse course range allows us to provide service leavers

with a variety of IT qualifications. This links in very well with our bundling option, as we are able to

group together the required courses in order to meet the criteria of specific qualifications. Some of

the main IT qualifications are outlined below (visit quanta.co.uk for a full list of IT qualifications):

Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) The Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certifications provide the foundation for Microsoft Certification. These certifications are designed to validate your skills on the features and functionality of key technologies (e.g. Windows Server, see IT bundle page). After becoming certified, service leavers will be capable of implementing, building, troubleshooting, and debugging the Microsoft technology chosen. We also offer MCSA qualifications in Microsoft SharePoint, Windows and SQL.

Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) Following on from the MCSA qualification, service leavers are able to develop this further by becoming MCSE certified. Building on the technical proficiency developed in the MCSA, the MCSE helps to provide the individual with the comprehensive set of skills necessary in order to perform a specific job role i.e. Server Administrator. Furthermore, it will allow service leavers to make the design and technology decisions necessary to ensure that technology implementation projects are successful. Taking this course along with some ITIL courses creates a stand-out list of qualifications.

CompTIA

The CompTIA qualification is now recognised worldwide as a trusted indicator of qualified and

competent IT professionals. The CompTIA qualifications we offer include:

CompTIA A+

For entry-level IT technicians, the CompTIA A+ exam covers preventative maintenance,

basic networking, installation, troubleshooting, communication and professionalism.

CompTIA Network+

For networking professionals, the CompTIA Network+ exam covers managing, maintaining,

troubleshooting, operating and configuring basic network infrastructure.

CompTIA Security+

For experienced security professionals, the CompTIA Security+ exam covers system

security, network infrastructure, cryptography, assessments and audits.

Managing Cisco Network Devices

By undertaking the MCND course here at Quanta, service leavers will have all the skills necessary to

install, configure and support Cisco products in an internet worked environment.
